How long does it take to set an NTRP rating for new self-rates?

I asked a friend to play a WTN tournament and he signed up for the USTA.
I asked him what NTRP he singed up as and he's not sure... thinks he wrote down 4.5
When I look him up on that trash USTA site, it says his rating is not set... does this mean he has time to
call the USTA and tell them, he's really a 4.0. He's a good player but way too inconsistent to be a 4.5 and way too nervous to start of
playing leagues/tournaments there.

Did he simply create a USTA account to have a USTA number so he could enter the tournament? Or did he go through a self-rate questionnaire that asked a variety of questions about his playing history?

I think that doing the self-rate questionnaire is not required unless one is signing up for an NTRP tournament or USTA League. If he is signing up for a non-NTRP tournament, and "WTN tournament" sounds like it may be that, he may not have been required to self-rate.

But if he did go through the self-rate process, I'd think it would show up immediately as the self-rating is spit out by the system so it should already be there.

Thanks. I didnt realize you could sign up for usta and not go through the self rate question. Will try another tournament w him and hopefully he can register at 4.0.
