How long to cut mains and crosses for PSLGT?

I have a few packs of poly that I want to string into my Pure Storm Ltd GT (18x20) and I was wondering how long to cut the mains and crosses?

Since poly doesn't stretch while stringing, and the 18x20 pattern really uses up a lot of string, I didn't want to cut the mains/crosses too short. And I wasn't sure if 20 feet would be enough for either the mains or crosses, so I didn't want to just cut the 40 feet string length in half.

Anyone?

Good question.

I'm not sure how reliable the Klipper measurements are though.

I strung up the mains in my Aerogel 200 18x20 with 20' of Kirschbaum PL II and I just barely made it. It was seriously close to not fitting. No stretch at all.

Rookie stringer here.

What kind of machine? On my Revo 4000 (lockout), I could get away with 21' for the mains, but on something like a Gamma dropweight with the ratchet tensioner, you'd want to give youself an extra foot or so.

It's a dropweight, similar to a Klippermate or something like that.

If you cut 21-22 feet out of a 40-foot pack for the mains, will the remaining 18 feet be enough to handle the crosses? Seems like 20 crosses would need more than 18 feet.

Thanks. I'll try 21 x 19. I just didn't want to end up too short for either mains or crosses. I already ruined one set because I accidentally cut the mains the same length as my 16x19 pattern K90. Stupid mistake.

I can string my PSLs with 36 ft of string I've not had any trouble with polys using this pattern either.

I use 10.5 feet for the short side. I string all of the short side mains and the bottom cross with the short side. I skip the last main on the long side and string the remaining crosses from the top, but I skip the top cross. Then you can string the last main on the long side and the top cross and tie off.
