Makes sense - I will give that a go. Thanks Blade_XIt has so much control that you dont need to go that high. Try it around 40-45 next time.

Too stiff and zero feel.I think it that way...
Take any regular poly... it will lose at least 10% tension before even going to the court, right after stringing...
Then 4G. I don't know the number but lets say tension loss is 0-5% (10-15% less than the regular poly).
You string both at a reference tension of 22 kg. By the time you play on the court, regular poly is less than 20kg, while 4G is still at 22kg...
first impression: 4G is too stiff...
That is a sticking point for me. I like a crisp feel from the poly in my racquets. Dead/muted feeling poly doesn‘t work well for me.Outside of kevlar I can't think of a more durable longer lasting string, though I like dead stringbeds so YMMV.
Yeah and don’t forget the price of it. Also people read on the TW university that it’s on top of the list in terms of stiffness and don’t even bother to try it.I think it that way...

Fine ill try it again.Yeah and don’t forget the price of it. Also people read on the TW university that it’s on top of the list in terms of stiffness and don’t even bother to try it.
I have a very sensitive arm. For example tour byte and yonex rev give me elbow pain. For some reason 4G which by the numbers is stiffer have never bothered me a bit.
Another interesting note is that I haven’t found another string that punches so heavy like 4G, has the same feedback as 4G (sooooo lively) and combines that unlimited power with so much control. Bonus tip it’s also the easiest string to just put the racquet open and return a long defensive lob with minimal hand/wrist action…..great energy return. If anyone wants to try it on a 18x20 or a dense 16x19 just drop the tension and all your problems are solved.
4G soft is great too but i prefer the more raw connection of 4G.
Only string i can compare to 4G is probably ice code but it feels more stiff and doesn’t byte as 4G.
To me if i had to describe 4G with one word it would be: consistency
Which racquet and pattern ?Fine ill try it again.![]()
The problem with those solinco strings and their copies is mostly that after 2-4 hours they become different strings from when fresh. But if i had to choose sth from solinco it would be tour byte soft or hyper g softLooks like we have same taste for strings
Hate lynx tour, tour bite, revolution, confidential...
Love Ice Code (strung low) too![]()
V7 Blade 18/20Which racquet and pattern ?
4g is probably not the string for you. Though maybe lower tensions could work. That is a sticking point for me. I like a crisp feel from the poly in my racquets. Dead/muted feeling poly doesn‘t work well for me.
44 pounds and you are good to go.I also enjoyed alu power soft in this frame.V7 Blade 18/20
Absolutely agree. I also have a sensitive arm and almost every poly gives me some wrist and elbow pain but surprisingly i felt nothing after playing with 4g/Babolat Touch VS natural gut at 22/24kg in my Gravity Pro 2021. Zero discomfort. Numbers can lie. From my perspective it is not a stiff string. Crisp yes. But definitely not stiff.Yeah and don’t forget the price of it. Also people read on the TW university that it’s on top of the list in terms of stiffness and don’t even bother to try it.

Do you think 4G would perform well in a Blade Pro strung low around 43 or so?4G in the right racquet is the best string ever created. Unlimited power with unlimited control. Feel wise is godlike. Most satisfying heavy hitting string. On the other hand on the wrong racquet and tension it can easily become a brick and ruin the racquet.
I use it full bed on 18x16 and nothing comes close to it in terms of power, feedback and placement. Every other string feels like plastic garbage when you have the right racquet for 4G.
I ve used Blade H22 not Pro which i believe is the same mold. My general rule in my experience with blades is very simple:Do you think 4G would perform well in a Blade Pro strung low around 43 or so?
Have you tried Gut/4G to compare it with 4G/Gut?Absolutely agree. Crisp yes. But definitely not stiff.
4G or 4G soft?Use it in blade v5 18x20, some reason feels great and better than Alu. Lasts almost until breakage (at least usable, Alu dies in an hour for me) which is crazy
Lux 4G is one of the best at maintaining tension. I think it works great in the blades, but I like it at a lower tension (47 to 48 pounds). ALU is amazing, but its wildly unpredictable after a few hours.Use it in blade v5 18x20, some reason feels great and better than Alu. Lasts almost until breakage (at least usable, Alu dies in an hour for me) which is crazy
Most of these Solinco strings feel great the first 4 hours. Godlike byte, plush and elastic behaviour with control..... after 4-5 hours the launch party begins....... HG round lasts a little bit more before it becomes unpredictable. The addiction of tennis performance/perfection every once in a while has me drifting to other strings. But there is something that is so consistent and reliable about 4G that I keep coming back.
I was having an affair with Confidential again and was liking some of the extra pop and feel, but going back to a 4G frame when I popped some strings, just felt so right.
That is what prestretching does.It seems like 4G degrades in such a slow way you almost adjust naturally to the change and can stay with it longer. Whereas a lot of other polys drop so much you can't make an adjustment.
some do. But prestretching makes the string firmer usually and well people don't like that sometimes. You can do it yourself. FWIW I prestretch my 4g before stringing because the factory could do a better job...Why don't more poly's have a prestrung version? Would prestrung Hyper G rock then?
4g strung at 44lbs4G or 4G soft?
I was thinking this week about Sampras and what if he had switched to cheatilon and here you go..Use VS Gut 1.30 and 4G 1.25 in my Pro Staffs, mainly RF97. As everybody says, Alu Power is great, but starts to feel worse by the third hour, less control. To emulate Alu Power a bit, I string 4G two kgs lower than I would Alu Power. So I am at about 25/22 kgs in the 97, and 22/19 in the 90 and 85 inch Pro Staffs.
Lux Gut crossed 4G or 4G Soft at 56/52. 5-10% pre-stretch on the gut.For those of you using it in a gut/poly hybrid what string tension for both? 52/50 or 50/48? In a Ezone 98.
Does 4g, 4g soft, or hyperG give the most consistent non launchy setup?
