How many of us use an insert?

I haven't tried many, but the Spenco Polysorb Cross Trainer Athletic Cushioning Arch Support Shoe Insoles have worked to keep my plantar away. My doubles partner recommended them since he used them for his plantar. I never had to use aftermarket insoles until a few years ago and I've been playing tennis for 30+ years. Plantar just started developing one day and hurt so bad I could barely walk.
I'll try some of your guys' suggestions like the Dr. Scholl’s Running Insoles and the Spenco Rx Orthotic Arch Support Full Length Shoe Insoles.
Cheers!

I use real leather (hard arch, but flexible) molded insoles in all of my shoes, sport and regular..

Great arch and heel support, and never smelly feet :D

Something like this:

They're about 8,- so changing them regularly is no problem :)

You probably did not use the full length spenco orthotics, ive tried a lot of insoles like superfeet and Dr Scholls and spenco inserts are much better for preventing planters and protecting the balls of my feet.

I've been using the Spenco full length orthotics too.
I also thought it was the best retail orthotic insert for my feet(something similar to Nadal's) but I thought it hampers movements a bit in tennis.
I'm now trying Superfeet orange and silver(carbon).
Have you tried these and compared?
Thanks.

I have tried several brands but they always end up squeaking. I end up going back to the crappy foam ones that come with the shoe so I won't have to deal with the squeaking.

Have you tried using a thin double-sided tape?

If my custom orthotics squeak in a new shoe, I use double-sided Scotch tape at the contact points to prevent the squeaking.

I like Superfeet blue and carbon. Blue is already fairly low profile but carbon is great in shoes where you perhaps want to create a little extra space as well. I even use it in more dress-type shoes. Where there is more space in the shoe, I have really been liking Powerstep Pinnacle which have paired superbly well with my Lotto Raptor 100s. By contrast, Superfeet have seemed to feel more comfortable in my K-Swiss for some reason.

I use custom orthotics. If I could find something better I would use it instead. So far, nothing.

Did you find your custom orthotics easily? I mean you have your regular doctor or any foot doctor will do and so on?
Have you had your doctor customize orthotics specifically tennis shoes?

Actually, I have tried custom orthotics from two different doctors.
One doctor was a kinda renowned one in northern cali and I even had to wait couple of months to make an appointment with him.
He did spent ample time to analyzes my feet and gait very carefully. and strongly recommended kinda thick orthotics with very high arch support.
But with his prescribed expensive custom orthotics, I found myself fall down easily playing tennis.
Then I saw another doctor in southern cali, he just made me step on a mold and prescribed a supposedly a custom orthotics basically looks similar to Spenko.
They were pretty wide, with low arch support and kind uncomfortable running in tennis shoes.

In short, I haven't found a good doctor with prescribed orthotics customized for my feet and tennis. o_O
any tips?

I have a facility that does custom orthotics. It is called Hanger Clinic. They do prosthetics and orthotics. It is a national company. They have me step into the foam boxes and measure my feet. They go over what I am gong to be doing ( activities). I also have them customized for my tennis shoes. They did some fine tuning for me to use that specific pair in my tennis shoes. I had to get a script from my family physician to be seen there at Hanger Clinic.

I never use an insert.

I once put an insert in my shoes and it felt really really weird. I immediately took it out and never use one.

No. Same feet. You must use an insert!
How come I don't have any pain in my feet?

When I tried an insert, it felt really really really weird so I took it out.

It must be my light weight body. I feel like flying or floating when I walk or run.

I tried out custom orthotics in 1984 in NY by a podiatrist recommended by Nike. My issues got worse. Ditched them.

Later, started some barefoot running in 88, and all issues went away. Support was only weakening the legs, i guess, the tendons ligaments etc.

The worst was calf muscle shortening due to the heel in running shoes.

Personally, I notice I can actually jump and move a bit better with the Pinnacle Power Steps. The shoe also fits much better, and I get almost no fatigue ever.
I even fit my walking shoes with them now. But I do have a high arch and I run the Power Steps with the high arch support.

I use Dr scholls float on air and Dr scholls Heel & Arch. The heel and arch one goes underneath the float on air one and they stay in place. The float on air doesn't have much arch support but has fantastic cushion. The heel and arch has fantastic arch support. The heel and arch is thin enough outside of the arch portion so having 2 insoles doesn't make the insoles too much.

I recently switched to 'iMedic Premium Orthotic Insoles'. You can find them on Amazon or the bay. Very affordable, very long lasting, very high arch support and incredibly comfortable and shock absorbent. Mind you, they weigh like half again what most others do. But I think they are worth it.

The regular old Dr. Scholl's sport insoles totally solved my blister issues in my last pair of Asics. The shoes were already about halfway through their life, so I didn't want to spend a lot. For <$20 it totally transformed them. Trying out the Move Game Day Pros in my next pair of shoes, I scooped up a pair when they were on sale a while ago.
