That's a lot of money invested.

Threw in my sets of syn gut since they were on top of the reels. Got a coulple sets of assorted polys (PH, PHT, 2x4 aka ALU, Cyber Flash) and some other multis, but those are all in a container that i can't be bothered to get from underneath the bed hah!

Oh, and I realized that I no longer have any black code. Used that up two weeks ago

Look at the reels that I've bought though. None of them, aside from the BC are really "name brand" strings. I just buy what plays best in a set, then get a reel of it if it's cheap. That way, I can tell people "you like that? try this, it plays better and costs less". Silverstring being a great example.

More like wasted!

Far, far, too fickle with your string choices OP. It's clear that you've flitted from one string, then another, then another..... most of those reels look unused.
I think that you missed the part where I said that I string for other people, and do live on a college campus (with over 40,000 students at that) ;)

Had around 20 reels of string last year, figured I wasn't stringing that much and ended up either selling them or traded them for my current racquets. I like that strings hold their retail value quite well, a lot more than racquets, unless they're used of course lol.

As for the types.

Big ace in all gauges
PS Spiral Flex
PS Titan
OG Micro
Forten Nylon
TS Cyberblue

Thinking about spin x or typhoon if I like the playtest. Though because of my bad shoulder I usually play with softer strings. Might be checking out PS Maxim Touch as well.

IMO, big ace is the best all-around poly money can buy. I'm not saying it's the BEST poly money can buy, I'm saying that it's about 75% of all of the best in each string's respective field but for a fraction of the price. I like the micro the best, and customers who come to me wanting ALU strung up in their frames and learn that I only at any given time have 2 sets of that cardboard (1 of regular ALU power and 1 rough), they always come back again for more Big Ace Micro after I turn them on to it. That's the second reel of Micro I've gotten, along with the second reel of the Gosen, Sweet and Silverstring.

The Poly Plasma probably has the best feel of the ones that I've got (the HEXtreme was free with my depot of tennis gold points :D ), but once I'm done playtesting Turbotwist and and the Typhoon sample I got when i reordered my reel of Sweet from that depot of tennis, I'll be sticking with the Spiky Shark. It's as soft as a multi but puts spin on balls like the third cycle on a washing machine.

Anytime you want to sell some of that Maxim Touch 17, let me know ;)
Whatcha got? I'll trade you 40 feet for anything you've got if I've been wanting to try it. I personally don't use the MT at all, but it's my most popular multi, even moreso than the sets of NRG I have.

I'm just saying that's still a lot to have on hand, especially with the majority of them being polyesters. But hey, more power to you to. I wish I had the money to stock that many strings. I string for others as well on a college campus and all I have is a reel of cheap synthetic, a reel of basic polyester and a reel of co-polyester that I also use for myself. Then just a few random sets of multis.

I'm lucky in that like Ferrari funds their hobby (racing) by selling cars, I fund my tennis and boxing by designing audio equipment. If you had any idea as to the amount of audio equipment I have, you'd probably **** yourself. Let me put it like this: I live in a studio loft (take a college studio APT, put in a set of stairs with half a studio APT on the second "story" aka what you see in the picture is the extent of the loft part lol) with 2 home theatres, one downstairs, one upstairs, all components designed, built, finished and installed DIY aside from the main receiver and blu-ray player (both are refurbished; gotta ball on a budget  ).

I make my money by making things, and I happen to have a knack for loudspeaker theory and design, so all the money that comes from that goes into my other hobbies.

I have a lot of reels but that is only because a lot of them are clients or people who switched sponsors...

btw, any chance you are willing to trade any of that stuff? i'm looking to try some Maxim touch 17 and MSV HEX 1.10

I have:

1 reel of cheap nylon
1 reel of cheap rainbow nylon
2 reels of forten comp nylon
1 reel of tecnifiber syn gut

I carry sets for the rest as I don't use that much of anything in particular. I have about 40 sets around.

I feel ashamed - I only have 1 reel of Alu Power, 1 reel of Silverstring 1.20 and my pride and joy - 1 reel of 200 meter true genuine Babolat VS Team 17 nat gut ;)

So out of those reels you all have, which do you mostly use? I'm sure you don't constantly switch back and forth between set ups whenever you string your racquet. For me, I only have a reel of gosen Og 17 and six sets of various polys

The Learning Channel has a new show. String Hoarders----follow us into the bedrooms of the world to discover the reels lurking within. Watch us try to "talk down" that 4.0 - 4.5 from hitting the final pay now button on Paypal for that reel of Focus Hex 17L for sale at TW.

Wow that's a lot of reels! i only have Gosen Og micro,.

You seem to have forgotten your 400m of Hyperion. Was it so bad that you had to sell it on the Bay? LOL.

I sold my reel of Hyperion, Tornado and Xcel Power private to a local tennis stringer.

I still like Hyperion, Tornado and Xcel power very much - but just prefer Alu Power and Silverstring slightly as my preferred cross string.

In 3 months time, I will probably prefer another string, another racquet model and so on.

A reel of natural gut -- Picture please.

I would love to see what this looks like.

2 reels of Topspin Cyberflash 16

1 reel of PSGD 17
2 reels of Wilson Stamina 16
1 reel of Gamma Synthetic 17
1 reel of Gosen OG Micro 16
1 reel of Gosen OG Micro 17
1 reel of Technifibre Syn Gut 17

1 reel of Leoina 66 15L
1 reel of Ashaway Monofire 16
2 reels of Pro Supex Poly Tech (which I would sell)
I'm sure there are a couple more, as this is just off the top of my head. I just finished a reel of Pro Supex Maxim Touch. My near future reels include Maxim Touch 16, Genesis Spin X 17, Black Magic 1.28 and Tospin CyberTwirl 16.

I tend to keep a couple of reels of poly, a couple of solid core syn gut and a couple of multi's as this serves our customer base well. So currently have:
Poly:
RAB EnduraFlex
MSV Focus HEx
Syn Gut:
RAB Texflex
Toalson Asterisk
Multi:
RAB Sensorfibre
Tecnifibre NRG

Plus a few sets of misc Lux Alu. Anything else I order in as customers need.

Sounds like your using tennis equipment to try and compensate for weaknesses in your game.

If you can't hit a forehand with a Wilson, you're still not going to be able to hit a forehand with a Babolat / Volkl / Luxilon etc.

A new tennis racquet / string every few months isn't going to make you play any better.

You'd be better off sticking with one racquet/string combination and spending your money on some lessons.

Steve Huff, did you mean Topspin Polytech instead of Pro Supex Polytech? I'll take it; I like that stuff. Let me know.

Can I join the club?

About three months ago, I tossed a set of Zo Magic into my Amazon order, just to qualify for the free shipping. I paid $10.95 for it, and they sent me a whole reel. I've found the stuff to be fairly useless except for the nice color.

I've become so interested in strings that tommorow I'm trying to order a Pioneer DC Plus for the second time. I sure hope they have them in this month.

Is this reverse engineering?

Common', lighten up a little. You don't get a handle like "ClubHoUno" by sticking with the same racquet or strings long term. I, like ClubHo, also enjoy sampling many different strings and racquets and grips and overgrips and....... Is that compensating for weaknesses in my game? Sure. But the key word there is, "MY" game. Just the way I roll.

I ... have 1 ... 1 reel of 200 meter true genuine Babolat VS Team 17 nat gut ;)

A reel of natural gut -- Picture please.

I would love to see what this looks like.

I too would love to see this. I always thought that the length of natural gut string was limited by the length of the animal's intestines. 200 meter long intestines would have to come from Babe the blue Ox!

Of course the ;) could simply mean that Club is just kidding!

I second that, I thought a reel of gut was just a red herring.

Natural gut will never be made in reels........

Unfortunately we're dealing with 'Consigliere73', the person also formerly known as 'PeterCharvet', also formerly known as 'Ivan Lendl's Backhand'.

He continues to act like a total azz on these forums and it takes less than one minute to track him down.

@Consigliere73: WELCOME TO MY IGNORE LIST, YOU PATHETIC MORON !

Whoah......someone's got out of the wrong side of bed!

You can buy 3 new racquets every couple of months, and 1000s of meters of string every few months, and a new pair a sneakers every week but its not going to make you play any better if you have such fundamental weaknesses to your game.

As I said earlier, you'd be better off getting some coaching.

Ouch. That's not necessairly true. Just preference changes.

Ignore him and his posts - he's a real downer and all he does is correct people and spread negative energy in all the threads he is involved in

He used to be 'PeterCharvet' and 'Ivan Lendl's Backhand' and all he did was spam and trolll the forum, which is why he was banned.

Take my advice: Stay away from him and his posts !

Sure thing, whatcha got?

What's the orange string in the photo thanks
As stated, Signum Pro Poly Plasma (HEXtreme). The HEX version is the same except as its name implies, it has a hexagonal cross section. The difference between the two is minimal, but I didn't pay for the reel of the regular so who cares :D

Definitely not. Lots of the reels I have I either got using tennis depot points. Out of the ones that I myself use, Spiky Shark, Silverstring and Turbotwist. Silverstring is the most popular string I've got by far, and used to be my go-to until I found Spiky Shark. I only bought the reel of Turbotwist 1.18 because of its novelty: when I bought it, no one in the US stocked the 1.18 reel and after using a set of it, I had to get some. That one's been pretty popular as well. As I already said, lots of the reels were "free" using gold points or are "refills" since I ran through the first reel of it already.
