Final tally for the bull?

Obviously he will win this year but I think he has 1-2 more yet.

Not really a Nadal fan but that kind of domination is madness.

I think he wins this year for his 10th. I don't see him winning again at 32 years old, and I also think by this time next year there will be additional challengers to fill the void we're seeing currently. I voted 10.

The 10th title shall be the last for the Bull.

He shall thus take his place as the third greatest male tennis player of all time, behind Federer and Laver.

10, crowning his insane dominance of the surface. Wouldn't mind being proved wrong though. Honestly I wish Navratilova was the first to reach double digits at one Open Era Major.

Margaret Court has 11 AO's, but not all Open Era and when not everyone went to the AO as a serious Slam.
Navratalova had a chance at 10 in 1994, but blew it against a fairly benign opponent.
On the OP, I'd say Nadal gets a couple more , there are no really good clay courters anymore.

If I had to guess:
10 or 11 French Opens, assuming he plays for 4 more years.

He wins either 2017 or 2018, and maybe again in 2019 or 2020.

If he gets stuck at 9 for the rest of his career, in his mind, would that be a failure???

King of Clay or not, at his current best he is more vulnerable than he was in the past and will only decline as time passes.

10 if he wins 2017 or 2018.
11 if he wins 2017 and 2018.

Not expecting much from him at 33+ years old.

Getting stuck at 9 would not be a failure, most likely just bad luck/bad timing.

Hopefully 10 in two weeks. :)
Anything less would be a big disappointment after the season he's had this year.

Never being satisfied is part of a champion's mentality, and Nadal is the epitome of what a champion is. In his mind, he will always be looking at what he could have done better to have got that 10th title. Will he look back on his career with a smile, of course, but there will always be that what if, if he never gets it.

I do think he gets it this year though. Just seems like one of those years where many things finally are getting a conclusion. Federer winning 18 slams. Federer finally turning the tables on Nadal. Nadal getting the long awaited La Decimas at two of three spots already.

I think we are going to looking back on this year as the culmination of the greatest era we have ever seen, ever since Federer won his first W, in 03.

10 sounds reasonable. As long as his forehand is clicking, he'll be a threat there, so him ending up with 11 RG titles in his pocket won't be that surprising, although it would be magnificent.
