I made a thread like this for Jannik Sinner.

Posing the hypothetical question of how many slams he would win if he was forced to contend with the Big 3 at their absolute best.

Now, I think it's only fair that we ask the same question about Alcaraz.

Some people are saying that he's the most complete 21 year of all-time.

Let's say that he is born in 1986 (the same year as Rafael Nadal.)

How does he stack up in this era?

Between 4 and 8.

I feel confident in saying that he would win one or two.

Unfortunately for Carlos, his best surface appears to be grass.

Wimbledon would be hard for him to win after 2012 and next to impossible, before that.

Nadal has a lock on the French and Djokovic has a lock on the Australian Open (from 2011 on forwards.)

Borg won five straight, and Alcaraz never had a chance? To me, Carlos has a more comfortable game on grass!

Borg won five straight Wims on slick, low-bouncing grass using a wooden racket against players also using mostly wooden rackets. (And even the non-wood rackets of the era were primitive, like Connors' T-2000 or Tanner's fiberglass stick.) Plus there was a ton of S&V from all concerned. I'm not saying that Alcaraz couldn't do well, but the results of Borg's long-ago era are of limited comparative value.

+7 rally agreesion despite not having Fed like serve means he is the most successful aggressive player post serve and volley era.

+ His best surfaces are slow courts. I am glad he is born later.

Roddick would win 25 Slams in the 2020s. Alcaraz would win 0 Slams in the 2000s.

Roddick, hell not only Roddick, even Juan Carlos Ferrero would DESTROY his young padawan Alcaraz everywhere.

Medvedev would struggle to win an ATP 250 in the 2000s.

This Tik Tok brainless generation understands nothing about tennis, and wants to insult the Federer era with their revisionist history.

lol.

Roddick thinks he wouldn't even have been good enough to play D1 college in todays tennis.

Ferrero today would beat alcaraz as well. Maybe it won't be straight sets because ferrero hasn't been on tour for 15 years.

40 slam events were played from 2000-2009.

Thus, from age-14 to age-23 seasons, Alcaraz goes:
2000 1
2001 1
2002 2
2003 2- due to being laid up from SARS for half the year
2004 CYGS at age 18
2005 CYGS
2006 CYGS
2007 2- suffers broken leg, then later gets indigestion
2008 3- beats Fed 6-0 6-0 6-0 in semis, then loses to Nadal in a classic final by the score of 6-7, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6, 18-20
2009 CYGS

That's 27 slam titles for Alcaraz born in 1986.

slam count for 2000s with 1986-born Alcaraz added to the field

Alcaraz 27
Agassi 3
Nadal 2
Kuerten 2
Sampras 1
Fed 1
Safin 1
Kuerten 1
Ferrero 1
Hewitt 1

Of course, with time travel tennis, anything is possible. So I'm throwing this out there.

Keep in mind that Alcaraz is only 23 years old at the end of 2009. 2010s would be even better, maybe 33 slam titles to bring his career total up to 60 by the end of 2019. 2020s would be his decline years where he maybe only bags 10 more for a total of 70.

Folks, let's not forget, Carlos has a losing head to head against a 37 year old Djokovic.

Thirty seven years old.

Can you imagine what prime Djokovic would do to him?

He’s an awesome player but the guy has lost close matches to grandpa Djokovic. I don’t think he’s winning many slams vs peak Fedal era then Djokovic.

Wins 2 gs in the 2000s decade both at U.S open. Wins 3 in 2010s two at wimbledon and one at rg

Maybe 2 in the very early 2000s when it was a transitional era when guys like Gaudio and Johansson were winning slams. That’s it’s . He can’t beat Federer at 3 of the 4 slams. Can’t beat Nadal at RG or Wimbledon. Can’t beat peak Fed, Nadal or Djoker at the AO. He probably wouldn’t have had much fun playing roddick either on the faster courts of the 2000’s
