How many Slams would Tsonga win today?

Novak is far different player than in 2012. He peaks for slams only. At least he did till 2024. I also don't want to care about what Nole did at 25.
Murray beat Nole, Nole beat Murray its not like Murray is without sin.

I will say it straight faced, Murray is not ATG and also on HC. Because Murray rarely played in the final there. 1 time in 2008 and then last time in 2012. Sinner is going to crush the competition in coming years on HC.

Probably right. But that's also because the competition is not up to par. That's the irony of the whole thing.

Screw the competition

Murray in 2012 didn't have best competition when he won USOpen. He won vs Nole in windy final where Nole physically wilted. He played 3 straight days that time.

Murray doesn't have a dominant gene.

A windy final? Was it less windy on Murray's side? If the conditions don't suit Novak, somehow the match means less.

Is he better than Alcaraz, Sinner or Medvedev? Or even Zverev? He'd be a contender for sure and put himself in there amongst that group.

In the 2012 U.S. Open final, Murray beat a version of Djokovic who was otherwise 25-1 from the Canadian Open-Shanghai Masters, with the only loss being to Federer in the Cincinnati final. Then, after an early loss in Bercy, Djokovic went 5-0 to win WTF.

That was a really high level version of Djokovic, and the wind had an impact on both players.

Maybe none, maybe one, maybe 2 or 3. It's the same answer I would give you for Zverev if you rolled back an alternate timeline keeping levels of strength consistent.

Both need the draw to open up a bit (has happened several times)

Only unlike Z where he needs not to choke, Tsonga rather needs to peak.

So yeah, depends how many times he'd both be peaking and not facing 3 of Djokovic, Sinner, Alcaraz, Z and Med on his way to the title.

True, Djokovic was pretty high level.
Should have won that final DAMN you nole

Because Djokovic further improved his overall game, in that period, to become a truly all around player. Particularly the serve and the net game really went further up a level. I don't see Tsonga competing successfully against Medvedev too, to be honest. The game slowly but steadily improves and Tsonga's would have too many weaknesses that could be exploited to be able to win against super consistent and yet powerful players like Medvedev.
