Depending on how judicious your string consumption is and whether you choose to string 1 piece or 2 piece, you should be able to get a minimum of 18 stringjobs out of a 660’ reel. If you are very precise and don’t have much waste, you can very likely get 19.

Well, the KM site says you need 37' if stringing up polyester. If anything else, maybe 34-35', since the string will stretch. It will also be machine dependent since you need enough to reach the gripper. My suggestion is to 1st use 37'. Note the wastage, then you know what to pull the next time. These are 1 piece string jobs.

If you're talking about the Klipper site, I've found the required string lengths to be inconsistent and in some cases way too long. For instance, I string for a guy who uses a Blade 98S, and I can do it one piece with 31 feet of a fairly elastic poly (Lux Element). The site calls for 20 feet mains, 18 feet crosses for the 18X16 pattern. Yet, on the Blade SW104 that I use, which is 18X19 and a larger headsize, it says 20 feet mains and only 19 feet crosses. One extra foot for three extra crosses on a larger headsize? So I'm not sure where the inconsistency comes from.

How many string jobs in a reel of string. That would depend on several factors:

1) head size the larger the head the more string you need
2) string type stiffer string type stretches less
3) pattern generally speaking a 1 piece pattern uses less string than an 2 piece
4) stringing machine the amount of string needed to reach the tensioner (which will be thrown away) could make a big difference

But for the most part I would count on about 36’ per racket or 18 string jobs per reel. YMMV

For the racquet you listed you should get 18 and have about 5 feet of string left, depending on how you measure, if you are using linear gripper, rotational gripper, and stringing one piece or two piece. There are a ton of variables that can determine how many racquets you get off of a reel.

On this note, what length are you measuring for the Yonex 310 mains and crosses? I noticed that around 18 or 19 feet on each side was more than generous and I probably wasted a little string there.

Yeah, you can afford to use shorter lengths. :)

16x19 pattern in 95-100”:
For poly, i generally use 18-18.5 feet for mains and 17-17.5 feet for crosses. 35-36 feet in total. Very little waste.

18x20 pattern in 95-100”:
For poly, I generally use 20-20.5 feet for mains and 18-18.5 feet for crosses. 38-39 feet in total with very little waste.

And I use a starting knot for the cross with a very short tail to minimize waste.

I also string for a lot of people so I always try to minimize waste with my reels because I can generally get an extra 1/2 or full string job by measuring more exact.

@Power Player I forgot to mention that i also use a starting clamp as a bridge when pulling tension on the last 2 mains. This allows me to save an extra foot per string job which amounts to an extra 16-17’ per reel!

Ahh..ok, I do that sometimes but prefer not. Is 18.5 a safe margin in my case?

I also use a starting clamp to start my crosses, so for that I need to just have enough length to pull tension at the end. I think it’s like half a foot or so, so nothing crazy.

Depends on how far away the tension head is. I think you may need 19’ for your stringway.

For crosses, because I don’t want to smush or enlarge the grommet hole at the top tie off, I will do a starting knot or Parnell knot and slip a scrap piece of string between the knot and grommet to prevent the knot from getting pulled into the grommet hole when I pull tension. I use less string going with the Parnell knot as it can be cinched up with a shorter tail.
