How much credit does Ferrero deserve for Alcaraz rise?

I swear to God watching last nights match i thought Ferrero was actually playing the match for him

Full on instructions after every single point

I know Alcaraz has immense talent but such a young player would be learning on the job and making many more mistakes without the coaching he gets constantly

ATP changing the coaching rules just during his rise was fishy, and makes it hard for me to fully judge is he thinking well or is he just following orders he gets after every point?

He won Queens this year without Ferrero. Came back earlier this year in the South American swing without Ferrero. He also won Miami last year without Ferrero at 18, among others I may have missed.

But yeah, sure, Ferrero Vamosing is why Alcaraz keeps winning. Others don't get coached, apparently (hint: they do, including the great Serb).

He was the same all court menace in local courts way before Ferrero even knew him as a kid.

Vamosing??? He is literally telling him what to do and we can all hear it despite not speaking Spanish

It's not surprising. JCF has an academy and those things survive on players being dependent on their coaches, fitness people, etc. He's not exactly going to want Carlos to go 'oh actually I don't need to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for all this. I could just hire one guy and use the tournament physio, etc.'
JCF needs Charlie to think without the academy, none of this would have happened or be happening. Charlie is as good as a hostage.

With this argument Rybakina should have been in the semis
