How much did you practice?

Here's my stats for the year (YTD) based on a sensor counter.
Practice shots (excluding match play or practice matches)

Forehand - 12000
Backhand - 6500
Serves - 4000
Volleys- 1500
OH - 500

Achieved with twice a week(90 minutes each) routine with practice partners or ball machine.
In terms of shot quality - spin rate has gone up from 25 to 60 percent of atp players.
RHS from 55 to 70 pct.

I practice overheads a lot less because I get 10 out of 10 - very deep and with a lot of bounce. But I mess it up in matches - almost 3 out of 10. Surely the form is not holding up in matches and need to practice more to build the muscle memory.

As much as i could based on time available and my friends wanting to play.
Which is, not NEARLY as much as id like.

Maybe 1x per week on average, id like to play at least 3-4 times.

which sensor counter do you use?
the OCD part of me now wants one so i can see where i'm really spending my practice/match time

Sensor is one of the best tennis investments I have made recently - there's no way I could have improved my spin amount without it. It's great to be able to check out how good I played whether I won or lost a match.
I use two - zepp tennis sensor and Babolat pop (one on the racket and pop is like a wrist band).

I play 3-4 hours, 3 days a week. I have no idea how many balls I hit, but I'd like to know. In hitting practice, whether that's with a ball machine or a practice partner, I try to hit at least twice as many backhands as forehands. I'm going to do that until my backhand is as reliable as more forehand. Still have a ways to go. I practice my serve every time I play.

I play 3-4 times/week, 1-2 hours each, depending on my program (shots drill, footwork, strategy, games). In addition, I train my fitness 3 times / week. Also, I play ping pong for variety and reflex training

Part of the value of hiring a coach is that he works around YOUR schedule, not your friends.
When I wanted to hit 5x a week, it would not have happened if I relied on casual weekenders.

I know quite well that relying on casual weekenders won't get me the amount of playing time needed, my plan is to compete in a local league, but im trying to improve my game atm to get to a decent enough level to not just get completely blown off the court but at least offer some competition, so then I can play a lot and get alot of match practice and experience which will help me improve more and get me alot of play time.

I think if all goes well its going to happen next spring so in a couple of months, then I should be able to play 3 times a week for sure.

the tennis sensor sounds interesting, tell us more. How does it work / how does it know what type of shot you're hitting?

I am also curious on the sensor thing .... how does it distinguish between a FH and a BH for instance? I really didn't know they could get that much precise data.

I play 5 sometimes 6 days a week. Sunday 90 minute group clinic followed by a standing doubles match (friendly), Monday 90 minute group clinic followed by 30 minutes ball machine, Tuesday league match (doubles or singles depending), Wednesday OFF DAY, Thursday 90 minute clinic followed by single's set (friendly), Friday 90 minute sometimes 2 hours with one of several hitting partners, typically rallying or serve/ros work, some matchplay, Saturday league match (doubles or singles)

Probably it has some sort of accelerometer to measure x,y,z coordinates and along with time it could figure out all sorts of info about shots. IMO it's not super accurate, but pretty close.

Those look like pretty good stats! Do you mind sharing your practice routine? I like structure when practicing outside of lessons, but I haven't figured out an optimal routine yet.

Varies based on practice partner or ball machine. This is my plan -

warm-up from the center: 5 minutes
CC forehand: 20 minutes (the goal is to make forehand a weapon and not spend as much time on backhand which will always be weaker)
CC backhand: 10 minutes
Volleys/OH from service line: 15 minutes
CC forehand, DTL backhand combo: 10 minutes
CC backhand:, DTL forehand combo: 10 minutes
serve and return: 20 minutes

Impressive to me. Figure 90 minute normal court time and you are allowing 5 minutes of total rest which means you are really going hard. Good job if you even approach 80% of your plan it looks good!

Thanks, buddy. This is aspirational!
