How much do you charge for coaching?

Do you guys think $15-20 for me is a good range because I'm not USPTA certified and I don't think I'm all that great of a coach. I can hit with the kids and do drills but I'm not really an expert on technique or anything.

I think you're spot on. I recently took a few lessons from a division one college player. He charged $20 an hour. He would have been $15 if I lived closer to his
house. A lesson from a public court pro was $50 an hour. Lessons from a private club pro would be $65.

People BS and overcharge all the time, it's up to the customer to find out if it's worth paying for.

yep. Knew a guy (about 6ft2 tall) in Prague that was ripping people off and I am still not a 6.0 that he promised I would be after two months. SHould I file a claim for money back?

Private Lesson OR Lesson with Two Students

Cost effectiveness for the students?

1) private lesson, OR
2) lesson with two students of similar levels

Will be in Munich for Electronica show (November 11-16) and am planning to swing by Praha for a couple of days for some tennis action with my old friends!

Jokes aside, Balla is an awesome coach that was spot on with drills and things we worked on. I am still sometimes using that nasty second serve kicker that kicks wide, close to the net...

I know guys who walk into national coaching programmes after finishing their pro career. They just do a fast track coaching qualification and slot into full time coaching with the best juniors in the country!

I just read now in Inside Tennis magazine that Stephen Amritraj is a national men's and boy's coach under Higueras at the Carson NTC.

So what you're saying is, he should first win multiple Grand Slam titles, become #1 in the world then drive around in a Winnebago coaching across the US as a hobby to gain extra cash and exposure while doing commentary with sexy legged Annabel Croft on Eurosport. Sounds reasonable.

yes, you understood my post perfectly

Matt, the coaches around here seem to charge around $30/half hour. Although you are a badass player, teaching is different. Your price seems reasonable. You are going to burn quite a few pancakes before you really get good at making them. Making a little on the side while you see what works and what doesn't isn't that bad of a deal. Dealing with all the different kinds of personalities is going to be... interesting.

Yeah I agree $20 is a good amount and I coached for about 10 hours last week so that was pretty solid. I am more of a hitting partner style coach instead of technique since a lot of these kids already have main coaches and I don't want to interfere with the strokes they already have in progress.
