How much do you run

post how old you are and how much you run every day/week/whatever and goal if you have some.

I'm sixteen and a little on the heavy side/very low cardio I've been running for the past 2 week a mile every night in like eight to ten minutes so I'm proud of my self. If I can be running 3 miles every night in eighteen minutes by next tennis season which is next feb. I will be very happy:). What about you?

Late 30s. I hate to run distance so I never do. I do some sprinting, footwork and shuttle drills. I've never had any problem with weight, except putting on more muscle when I was under 30 years old.

I'll be doing some sprinting and fun run type stuff on the beach next week when I have some time off.

3 miles in 18 minutes is VERY fast.
i've ran several 5 k's and the winner is usally somewhere in the 16-18 minute range(btw 5k is 3.1 miles)

but it is possible, its just gonna be tough.

everymorning i work out at school and we do some kind of running
like today we:

sprinted 10 times up the bleachers (theres like maybe 14, and about 2 1/2 feet tall or so)
then we hopped up them 10 times
then we did these things where we ran up the the smaller stairs 10 times.
after that we just jogged around the track once to warm down(1/4 mile)

but then sometimes we'll work on the ladder(footwork drills)

or sometimes we'll do sprints around the track.

it just differs from day to day

oh and im 17

well tennis season is basically over for me. So there really isn't any in school work out for me, well there's P.E. but its not much of a work out. So I decided to just run by my self. I also do a hundred push ups in sets of 25 and a hundred sit ups in 50's every night.

o believe me its possible, but i know XC people at my school are running 5-8 miles a day to get ready for races, and they may only get 19 but that would be a bit over 18 if it was only 3 miles.

i mean if your dedicated you can deffinently handle it, but it will take a lot of hardwork. if you trying to get into "tennis shape" this isnt the only thing you need to be doing. you also need to work on explosiveness probably more, because in tennis matches you dont ever run 3 miles at once(although it cant hurt to do that also) running 40 yard sprints works well for explosiveness

Oh I am definitely thinking of incorporating suicides and ten ball drills and the like into my work-out just not right now ;-) I kinda need to get into a basic "good shape" and then specialize for tennis

In the winter/off season I run about 20 miles a week with a couple of hundred flights of stairs. My usual run is 3.5 miles with 50 stories of stairs at the end. I am 37 and not really a smurf or albino. I've got to say that keeping up the coditioning ha really helped out big time with my tennis game this season. It's a great feeling having confidence in your conditioning enough to be able to just focus on playing better.

I'm 45. Right now I'm running a little over 30 miles/week. Will be ramping up to mid forties a week. My 10K PR is 45:36.

Would like to get about two minutes off that time by fall.

im a 20 yr old.
i hit up the weights/gym session 3 days a week, the other days i do cardio.

My cardio consists of 2days of endurance running:5-6kms moderate pace combined 5 laps of 400ms. the other 2 days, i do sprint work: 10*50m's and 2/3 100m's.

im not as fast as i was bak in high school

doing those will help with your long distance running to. im sure you realize, but when running long distances you work differnt muscles than sprinting. so being able to do both will help alot.

lets say you did somethin like this.

Monday: 2 mile run
Tuesday: 1 mile run--10 40 yard sprints
Wendsay: 2 mile run
Thursday: 1 mile run--10 suicides
Friday: 2 mile run
Saturday: 1 mile run--10 ball drill (how ever many times)
Sunday: OFF

i mean that may a bit generic- and to start my be a little much, so like the first week it might be like 1 mile run. 1/2 mile-plus other.

but if you were to do somethin like this weekly and build on it, theres no reason you shouldnt be able to get a good 20 minute 3 mile or lower. and thats not even including the excerise you get form tennis.

and make sure you stretch ALOT more than your running, that helps a TON when trying to build up speed.

i have just started running more (running a half marathon in october). i run about 2.5-3 miles 3 times a week. i prob run that distance in about 20 minutes. i also play some competitive tennis and b ball where i am doing some major running which is probably a better workout! i will be upping the distance of my runs in the near future (week or two).

My running is all done on the courts, might run a few laps for a warm up, then I let my partner up at the net, he runs me around with volleys. We also play best of 5 set matches to practice for USTA.
16, I've recently been measured at 11% body fat, which is strange, because that means I'm fit and healthy, but I have the endurance of a two-year old obese baby.
