How much of Sinners greatness would you put down to his racquet head? (grphn3 tch spd mp)

Of the 2016-2019 graphene touch speed lineup from head, i prefer the mp over the pro because it is a little more head heavy than the pro and it feels better balanced. It is fairly light for a pros racquet but nothing a little lead tape cant take care of. It is fairly flexible although not a super flexible racquet like the pro tour or microgel. I dont know if it is a great choice for sinner bc of his lanky body mechanics or if it is just a great racquet in general, but its the best racquet i have ever used and it seems like it could be a big part of why sinner has become such a great player.

Actually, the TGT301.4/.5 are crappy sticks in my opinion. The TK339 mold is waaayyy better and latest layups are better.

OP, Sinners setup has nothing to do with the balance and weight you described above
I'm closed minded enough that if it was the best racquet I ever hit I still would find an alternative due to the shared holes in stringing. I can't stand that.

I heard he’s switched dampeners lately and that’s why he’s playing better.
Yes, @sureshs has confirmed he has been working with Sinner to give the young Italian a leg up on all string/grip/dampener technology. He has even lined up an exclusive deal on southwestern grips so Jannik will be the only ATP player using them.

I disagree completely. At that level, tuning in with your “magic wand” means a lot. That is why he’s playing with the stick that that was not impressive to many…
I agree with you. People who say racquets do not make a difference do not understand the nuances. If what they say is true, pros should be able to pick up any racquet and play at the same level. :alien:

dr im not talking about sinner my man

of course the highest level requires the highest level of racquet customizing

what i’m saying is that this forum would probably switch rackets 10 times before acknowledging it’s their own inability.

Aha, that…I do agree to some degree. There are many high level players on the forum and those of lower level that do understand how the racket customization can and cannot help

which i totally agree with and think everyone should learn and apply - with the overhead that a perfect racket can only take you so far

I have told you before that it is not available on TW so I can't discuss it
You told somebody else that. Please try to keep track of your dampener conversations more accurately. Then, perhaps PM me with that detail. I am positively full of excite to learn what an $18 dampener looks and feels like, especially when installed in a $5 set of polyester.

What is the problem with shared holes?
(Get your mind out of the gutter)

but seriously i dont know why having shared holes would drastically affect strength or performance.

play enough tennis and you’ll know that being good has little to do with “finding a magic wand”

sinner is amazing with his racket because he is amazing at tennis, not the other way around
But for many good tennis players part of being good is thinking you have found a magic wand.
Also, some racquets are much more capable than others. If you dont believe me than go buy a lm rad tour from china and then tell me “a tennis racquet is a tennis racquet” lol

not everybody here is as bad at tennis as somebody who would make the comment you just made.

To not be able to tell the differences in the feel/response of different racquets you must be quite ham fisted.

Did you not read the op? That is what i said.

He is saying that Sinner’s balance and weight are very different from the retail stick even though his mold and layup are retail because of the weight customization and potentially silicone in the handle.

Oh. Fair enough. To me the actual frame specs (before weight and balance adjustment) matters more than the end balance specs.

an obese person riding a shopping cart might have the same weight specs as a hayabusa 1300r, but i promise you its not the same thing.

Well, if we’re being technical, this is not true in Sinner’s case either. He uses the prostock (TGT301.4) which doesn’t have handle weights so that weight and balance can be customized more easily. The retail (TGK301.4) has handle weights, which limits the scope for customization. So I believe his racket comes in lighter and with a different balance pre customization.

I'd just add that his specs are impossible to get to with handle weights in.

Hey, I just thought the Hayabusa analogy was pretty funny; not getting involved in the Head minutiae - God forbid…

The 2022 Head Speed mp may be the best racquet I’ve ever used. Crisp and powerful (coming from Blade) but not harsh where I can’t use full poly.
