I'm almost 22.
Playing tennis for all of 3 1/2 months now, but playing as much as I can.
Current level: I can move around decently. I have some variety in my shots (can't hit a dropshot though, and still need to learn how to slice the ball consciously). I can serve OK, but not consistently enough, and not with any variety of the slice/kick kind.
Following extensive research and conversations I decided to bypass the 'game improvement/power racquet" category and used a K Tour Team FX for a start.
At some point I wanted to have a second racquet just in case someone wanted to casually hit with me. Since I had just started there was no way to be sure that K Tour Team FX was the best thing to have, instead of getting a second one of the same kind, I bought a K 6.1 Team 95.
I really liked that racquet (more for the groundstrokes though, I honestly sucked with it on volleys, though most of this has to be a fault of my technique rather than the racquet). The two thing I hated though: mishits hurt a real lot with that racquet, and I often felt that a fast ball would 'push my hand back' when I hit it, if you get I mean (I later learnt the technical term for this - 'plowthrough'

).
Despite that, I liked the Team 95, so I went to buy a second 6.1 team 95. But since it was on sale and there were only a few items left on stock, I also bought a 6.1 Tour 90, hoping that I could adjust to the extra weight and knowing that it would be less of a pain when I hit the ball (due to the mass of the racquet absorbing the impact).
Well, I tried the Tour 90, and it's what I use now. I didn't really like the leather grip, so have it covered with an OG. Smaller headsize is absolutely no problem. The extra mass makes it just so steady. In the beginning it tired me within 20 minutes of hitting, now it's no problem.
This racquet really helped my volleys and backhand, but it took a while for me to readjust my forehand and serve (due to the weight).
Sorry for the long post - after this short endeavour I find that for my level at least, the bottom line is that there is no perfect racquet..it's trade-off and you just try to make the better compromise
