How Old is Your Racquet?

Centropolis

New User
This is kind of a spin-off thread from the one about used racquets' prices and how they 'breakdown' after usage.

How old is your current racquet? How often have you been playing with it? How many more years do you think you can still playing with the same racquet?

Just replaced my stick from 13 years ago, but the new ones aren't strung yet, so the DB26's are still going!

Still really love those racquets!

Centropolis, you know the only responders will be some old school, retiree using a Wilson PS 6.0 85, kickin' butt and takin' names in H-Town, eh? Btw, just strung-up my PS 6.0 85 Sunday, happy as a blind man in a stripclub dressing room.

So the blind man knows what's going on around him (he hears "Michelle, pass me my bra") but he can't see anything so it must be like torture, yeah? So "happy as a blind man in a stripclub dressing room" is really an indication of misery. Isn't it?

my first POG is less than a year old and it'll last for atleast 3 more years.
Let me guess. You got your POG from that place on Glendale Blvd. for $99.00

Question for Joe Sch

What are your favorites from the early 80's? I believe from another post that you like the 200G. What about some of the others? I have a variety in my closet that I might have to dust off.

3 Dunlop MW´s : 5 yrs. and in fine condition. I change the grommets every 2 yrs. or so.

The paint is worn some places, but they feel like brand new even though they have been strung many times.

Correct, the max 200g is unsurpassed :)

The rossi wilander sticks are also very nice, the becker, lendl's and sampras sticks, ofcourse.

There are alot of sleeper sticks that were not endorsed by big name players like fischers, except for the stan smith model. How about the small head ??? for a challenge. The durafibers were a very unique and enjoyable composite graphite to play. Soo many others that were unique and enjoyable to play ...

Oldest one in the bag is 7 years old, although I have older in the closet. The others I carry are 2 and 3 years old.

The oldest racquet I still sometimes use is a Wilson ProStaff 6.0 95 that is I bought 14 years ago. It plays just as well as any racquet I own. It was my first racquet, and I think it influenced greatly my preference for racquet feel and weight.

Yonex Graphlex

One of the sweetest standard headsize racquets I ever played with was the Yonex Graphlex - a graphite version of the ovalized aluminium rackets they made before the square jobbies.

Agree, I have one of those racekts also

I had my Tour 90's for two years and traded them in for a couple of RDX500's. Playing twice or three times a week keeps them good for two to three years.

My Pro Tour 280 is about 8 -9 yrs old, and it still feels and plays great. Too bad I can't find any new ones....oh well. Time to try an new "old school" Head Classic!
