How realistic is it for Nole to pass Federer for most weeks at No. 1?

Novak needs 160 weeks more which is more than he has right now and also more than 3 years in time. His best years in therms of physicality are behind him as he is approaching 30, and I just don't see him staying at the top for much longer than 90 weeks. It's just impossible for Novak to surpass Roger in this department.
Not impossible at all, Nadal won't even win a slam again at this rate, Murray can't do F all to Novak, Fed never beats Novak in Best of 5..... Novak Is so consistent Nadals 2013 (10 title season) Nole was only 1000 points behind, not far off:shock:, Novak is due for multiple slam season this year. Young guns not consistent enough.

I wouldn't usually assume anything about the future but believe me, this is impossible. He is on, what, 141 weeks now? to get to 303 weeks, he needs to hold on to his no. 1 position until early May 2018. Let me assure you, it ain't happening. Nobody beats father time and Djokovic is not really a Son of God.

He's only on 141 weeks but his position at number one is secure for the foreseeable future. It's only April, but barring injury the YE number 1 is virtually assured. Djokovic is so consistent, so competent on all surfaces, and there are few prospective challengers. I wouldn't rule out him breaking the record.

At the age of 28 he isn't even halfway yet, so right now I'd say it's very unrealistic.
Let's talk about this later, say at the beginning of 2018?

listen twonker... when did i say he could not get closer to Fed's? that is your dumarso interpretation and not my words. i am responsable for what i write not what you make of my words!
Yeh, moron. I got it and that's why I'm calling you on this. You are laughing at people saying it's not impossible to reach Federer's record yet you predict him to reach 270 weeks at number one. Almost 3 more full years at #1.

"HAHAHA look Mom, those are idiots saying Novak can stay more 3 years and a half at #1."

"Oh, I believe Novak remain the #1 for ONLY 3 more years. I'm such a genius, mom!"

Hopefully now you can understand how contradictory you sound.

Goracki, here's an intelligent guy making sense. He says it's impossible for Novak, explains his reasons and then says Novak wont stay at the top for much longer than 90 weeks. 140+90=230. The number I thought you'd say.

That makes sense. If you laugh at people saying it's possible, you can't go that high.

Btw, I'd bet chjtennis on the over and bet you on the under and I'd probably win both bets.

So, is that a no? ;)

Seriously, I don't see it. Everybody can trade views and talk about who will stop Djokovic, but I think a lot of you will be shocked when Novak declines in the next couple of years tbh. It's the same every time. People always believe the guy that's on top now will be on top forever (especially after he wins something, even if it's not a slam), but it will never work like that. Dimi-Nishi-Raonic are weak people will say. I don't care. Age will stop Novak before they do.

You can mark this post if you want. The way many are talking now, TTW will have a meltdown when Novak really starts to decline, and it's coming sooner than you think. Trust me.
Mark ? Never did, but it is nice to read complete fail form the past with so much arrogance in it :sneaky:

Anytime you question the limits of the great champions like the Big 3, you end up looking like a fool. Let’s enjoy their dominance for as long as it lasts. I personally doubted any of them winning more than 17 slams and now I wouldn’t be surprised if one or two of them win 23 or more Slams.

I do not recognize grafs records because the road to them was not right! when someone attacks with knife (to take away) your biggest competitor who is younger and better than you then your records do not have an honest value! graf took about half of her slams before seles came and half after the knife attack. during the time when seles ruled, she took 8 and graf only 2 slams and in one of them seles has not participated.

also im not sure if i made a reply to this thread at the time but if I did I can guess what it said and I got owned

fair play
That is OK, no one could have predicted the unprecedented lack of younger generation ATG talent to challenge the "record holder". People give educated guesses, not ones completely detached from history and experience.

Yeah at the time it was a fair guess. ditto that thread about whether Nadal would overtake federer made after ao17

"Maybe in topspin 5"

nah but bro hear me out federer was lucky, he had it easy bro
I don't even understand what exactly are these guys celebrating: the death of the tour?

Achievements are fine and dandy, and the players will receive their recognition, but right now to celebrate breaking a record, because there is no younger ATGs (and the mind bending no Major winners less than 27 y.o. (and we know how that happened)) is like celebrating that there is no traffic congestion in the centers of the big cities after a certain hour, when the reason is that there is a pandemic and a curfew because of it.

Now that is some serious LOL
No chance in hell, I'm guessing he'll end at the 220 mark.
When does he take over Nadal?
Impossible. He's on 139 weeks. He will do well to add 100 more weeks, IMHO. At best, I think he will be no. 1 for around 250 weeks, but realistically, I think he will be there for 200-220 weeks by the time he retires.
I'd say 'bout the same likelihood as OP poasting a poast without 'em underlines.

So: slim.
'tinkle, tinkle little star..'

Simple: Nole isn't Federer.

Reverse the ages and have 33-year old Djoko playing 27-year old Fed. You know what would happen?

Well, imagine one of those fountains featuring a marble cherub peeing into a pool. Guess who's the pool?

Novak Poolovic, that's who:

'tinkle' ...

This thread is a personal attack aimed at our collective intelligence. You have been reported!
Lol what? Not a single chance in hell.

302 is a big number. That will never ever be surpassed in any generation, you just won't see it.
Wow, it's a bit funny that there is even a thread about this. Not very realistic OP. Djokovic's decline is inevitable just like all the past greats of the game.
i'm saving this thread for later. i feel like i'm going to throw a few "stupid pies"
Let's not kid ourselves. Djokovic still has more than double the amount of his current number of weeks to add to his total.

For all of you who said who is going to stop him? Come on, I am sure there have been many such instances so far in different situations. Everybody saw what happened at the USO last year. Who forsaw Nishikori beating him in 4? Things like this can happen in the future to Novak. Sure, he is playing well now, but so was Fed up untill AO 2010. And everybody knows what happened after that.

He may have dificulties reaching slam SF's in 2 years time. Anything can happen in tennis. Let's not pretend like every generation from this point on will suck. They may stop Novak in tournaments, even if they don't go on to win those titles. The point is they will still prevent him from winning them
Ain't gonna happen. I have a better shot at dating Swedish twin supermodels.
