How Rich Is Fed?

I was just thinking about the amount of money that Fed (deservedly) must have in his bank account. I know we'll never know the exact amount, but does anyone know roughly? I mean, he's won like over 53 million dollars, has numerous sponsors, TV appearances and I'd imagine he has his fingers in many pies elsewhere away from tennis. Obviously he gets taxed and he's spent, but do you think he's packing say, over 100 million dollars in the bank, just to throw a figure out?

A sign of his wealth was that during the US Open, I heard it mentioned he was staying in a $14,000 a night hotel. 14,000 x 3 weeks roughly is nearly 300,000. ON A HOTEL?!

I would say he has soomething like 300 million...

He has some pretty big corporate sponsors and he would be getting paid more than any other man for his clothing and racquet endorsements.

I can only wonder how much he got paid for those exhibitions with Sampras but i'm guessing it was pretty massive

Stunning post, i'm impressed that someone has gone for a decent interpretation.

No, the suite goes by that rate and is called the Federer suite. I don't think he would be paying that much. He will great a break due to the business he brings to the hotel.

Not only that, one of his sponsors might have footed the bill in exchange for a publicity event. That is how it works.

I hate it when people/parents refer to beautiful daughters. If the daughters were not beautiful, would they have cared for them less (answer is sometimes, sadly, yes)? And if the daughters are ugly and refering to them as beautiful is sort of like a feel-good thing, that sounds like a gimmick.

I remember reading somewhere that his endorsements are usually roughly 3-4 times as much as his prize money. So, I would think that he has accumulated around 200-250 million in his career.

I believe that the highest pay year for Federer was in 2007, when he won about 10 million in prize money and made 35 million total.

It depends on what currency we're talking in.

There's an even bigger genius than Federer in the sportsworld who only has a tiny fraction of Federer's wealth, the darts player, Phil Taylor.

I find that hard to believe. Fed is a pretty low key guy from what I've seen. Wasn't there a documentary which showed he still stays in a modest apt on Basel or something?

I think he really indulges on his jackets and hair though

No one has seen them yet.

wow u guys are bashing this guy too much, what he meant is obviously not looks its the fact that to any proud father, his children are the most important and most precious thing in his life, if you guys knew this and are just doing it to make fun, then this forum is really really messed up:???:

Federer, I'm sure, has a ton of money. Federer likely has a net worth in the hundreds of millions. He seems to be a smart businessperson and a good guy too in that he does a lot of charity work. Good for him!

As far as some other players, I'm sure McEnroe has built up a tidy sum over the years. My favorite player, Bjorn Borg, had some financial troubles though he was worth a 100 million plus when he retired in 1982. Yet, now it seems like he's doing pretty well financially due to his clothing line, which is second only to Calvin Klein in Sweden now.

McEnroe's contemporary Borg, when he retired, owned many homes, and a Monte Carlo penthouse, while also owning a small island off the coast in Sweden. Yet, personal troubles led him to waste his fortune before he made a comeback with his clothing line. I'd be surprised if he wasn't a multi-millionaire once again now.

Yet, the richest "Tennis Figure" has to be Mr. Ion Tiriac.

He's the former coach of Vilas and Becker, and doubles partner to Illie Nastase. He was seen as pretty "gruff" and eccentric, but he knew his tennis that's for sure and was quite good as a player as well. He is Romania's first billionaire.

See this article about him selling his 49% stake in Mercedes Benz Romania:

See an excerpt from Wikipedia on him:

"Following the collapse of communism in Romania, he started numerous businesses and investments back home. In 1990, he founded Banca Ţiriac, the first private bank in post-Communist Romania. Between that and several other enterprises (retail, insurance, auto leasing, auto dealerships, airlines, etc.), his fortune was estimated at over $900 million as of 2005[update].

Ion Ţiriac became the first Romanian[3] to enter Forbes' List of billionaires in the 2007 Forbes rankings, placing number 840 in the world. His wealth was estimated at $1.1 billion as of 2007[update], according to the magazine."

Federer has made about 50 mil just from tennis alone. Add to that dozens of commercials by the most high end companies in the world over all these years plus other enterprisese he invests in and you are probably looking at 150-200 mil.

The people in the know on the mens game seem to agree that whatever a player makes in on-court earnings you can safely triple it to arrive at what the player is worth. During one of Roger's matches earlier last week at the AO, they however did say that in Federer's case it would be roughtly 5-6 times what he earned on the court due in a nutshell to him already being a living legend and the de-facto GOAT, etc. So if these knowledgeable guys are to be believed, then you are looking at around $250-$300 million as a round figure, give or take.

Melbourne, - Roger Federer has been noted as one of the 300 richest people in Switzerland by business magazine Bilanz, with a net worth estimated at between 100 and 160 million dollars. While the world number two heads the all-time ATP prize money list on 43 million dollars in prize money and counting, most of Federer's earnings occur off-court under the tutelage of IMG, which is said to have trebled his annual income to around 35 million dollars.
The 13-time Grand Slam winner recently strengthened his bottom linein these troubled economic times, signing an eight-year contract with longtime clothing supplier Nike for a record 130 million dollars.
While players complain about a long season, exhibition matches at 1 million dollars a pop in the case of Federer can be quick little earners, according to the magazine, which total around six per year for the Swiss.
As a Swiss, Federer is ineligible for one of the lucrative tax deals offered to rich foreigners form sportsmen to entertainers to business men. But he did recently switch his fiscal canton to Wollerau south of Zurich, a lakeside locale favoured by high earners.
It's really not that easy to figure out a person's net worth. He has to pay taxes, his agents and managers get a cut, and who knows how he invested it. It's not like he puts it all in a bank.
