How to Add Lead Tape to Wilson V9 16x19 to Match Pro Version Specs?

Hi everyone,

I recently demoed the Wilson Blade V9 Pro 16x19 and loved how it felt! However, I’m new to customizing rackets and would like some advice on how to add lead tape to my current Wilson V9 16x19 to match the specs of the Pro version.
Here are the specs of my current rackets:
1. 307g / 31.9cm / 295 SW (unstrung)

2. 308.5g / 31.8cm / 293 SW (unstrung)

Could anyone guide me on where and how much lead tape to add to mimic the balance, weight, and swingweight of the Pro version? I’m saving up to eventually purchase the Pro version, but in the meantime, I’d love to replicate its feel as closely as possible.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I mean those two rackets are pretty closely matched. The blade pro is a completely different racket so you will not be able to duplicate it with a regular blade.

The manufacturer unstrung specs are supposed to be the same between the Blade and Blade Pro. But the Blade Pro will typically have a much heavier SW spec. Also I'm assuming the BP will not have all the dampening tech like the v9 Blade. Without the dampening tech, it will have a more brassy raw feel. The simplest way to customize you Blade would be to add 4-5 grams of lead at the 12 o clock area, and then adjust as you see fit.

You can match the specs. But you can’t match the layup, flex and string spacing.

The Blade Pro is basically a H22 with a Blade pj and the Blade is a Blade.

Start with desired specs and build Swing Weight First:

1. If you’re desired SW is 335, 16/19 1.25 stings can add about 30-33 SW points. Know how much your strings add. So, if we want to be at 335, assuming no dampener, spec SW to 302 unstrung. 295 to 302 is a little over 2g’s of lead at 12 o’clock.

2. Once you’ve got SW, you can play with adding weight to handle or throat, depending on desired balance point. If you add at bottom of handle, BP comes down to make more headlight. Opposite if you add 1/2 inch lead at top of handle.

One comment, the hight you add lead on the handle, this may increase SW by a point or two depending on much added weight is put on.

He listed the sw specs of the two rackets, adding 4-5g at 12 is going to blow up the sw when they are only 2 points apart.

Don't overthink it. Quality control varies a lot on the Pro as well, so there is no exact spec to match to. If you like the fact that the Pro swings a little heftier, just experiment with adding a few grams of lead tape at different points and trust your hands.
