how to avoid twisting 4 sided poly

I like to use square poly for the mains. Been trying to be careful, still get twisting sometimes right in the sweet spot of the string bed. Maybe it doesn't matter. but there must be a way of avoiding it. Maybe I wasn't searching with the right key word, didn't find anything that looks promising. Any suggestions, please?

When weaving poly especially shaped poly weave 1 ahead and always pull the next string to be tensioned up against the last tensioned cross. If you can pull weave try to weave your cross as near the last tensioned string as possible. The makes the weave easier and shaped strings won’t twist as easy.

sorry, if I'm not following.... is this how it goes from the top with flying clamps:
weave 1st and 2nd crosses, pull 2nd cross, clamp 1st and 2nd
weave 3rd and 4th crosses, pull 4th cross, clamp 2nd and 3rd
weave 5th crosses, pull 5th cross, clamp 3rd and 4th
weave 6th crosses, pull 6th cross, clamp 4th and 5th
...
Would the tension come out lower than the set value?

No no no. Weave your first 3 and pull cross # 2 and clamp it. (I never tension my first directly)
Weave 4 then pull 3 and clamp 3.
Weave 5 then pull 4 and clamp 4.
And so forth.

I would weave the third cross first then the second and then the first. Place a starting clamp on the first cross then tension the second. Pull the third cross up against the second, weave the fourth and tension the third. Go back and tension the first and tie off. Continue pull the fourth cross up to the third, weave the fifth, then tension the third.

Your goal is to remove friction between the mains and the crosses. You do not want the cross you’re getting ready to tension pulling down the high strings so pull that string up as far as possible against the last tensioned cross. I use this when I use my short side ATW pattern so there are no hard weaves.

When stringing shaped crosses at the top and bottom of the frame I use the method below for the top and bottom three crosses.

Won't they end up twisted after a few hits (if you hit with enough pace and topspin to move the strings in the first place...)?

This is the technique I use as well. For other crosses, with shaped strings the String Weaver tool is a nice option to prevent twisting.

The top and bottom few crosses are the only crosses I had trouble with twisting with. How the the string weaver work on the bottom crosses.

String weaver generally can not be used in bottom two crosses. I use the technique demonstrated in your video for those strings. My top technique is to prelace top 3. I then tie off usually with starting knot or some situations will use surgeons knot (Wilson). I pull string number 2, tensioning both 1 and 2 simultaneously. I have also tried using starting clamp method as you describe and pulling cross #1 then tie off. I have found tension on string #1 is actually higher using one pull to tension top two strings then giving #1 it’s own pull. This is due to tension loss on tie off. You can test and verify yourself using string meter.

I don’t doubt it may be higher. When using a starting knot I pull tension on the top 2 also but using knot tension, then you could go back off and pull again if you want. Not only do you loose tension tying off you loose some tension because of the greater angle of the pull, and after tensioning the second and third crosses the mains are stiffer and there could be more tension loss due to friction.

If I’m stringing a racket with tie off grommet on the 2nd or 3rd cross I will tie the top cross on a cross, and not use a starting cross. Often I string racket with my short side ATW pattern. Then I’m tying off the top cross with no crosses below in tensioned and get a higher tension on the top cross due to less friction with better tension maintenance Because of 2 knots. But not all rackets are good candidates for SS ATW pattern.
