How to: Buying/making a stand for a table-top machine

It's from Target, but I don't believe it will be strong enough for your Revo. It's rated to 25lbs, handles the 45 or so lbs of the Alpha Pioneer DC just fine, but I think 75lbs+ of the Revo and misc. supplies/tools would be a bit too much. At a minimum you'd likely have to replace the wheels, and maybe reinforce it somehow. It's cheap enough that you could give it a try, but I don't know that it's the right option for a Revo 4K.

A kind of simple, mobile, height-adjustable option. And hey, for $40...(but no extra storage).

Where can you find this stand? I like this the best of what I've seen, if it is indeed stable enough to hold the weight of a revo 4000. It doesn't hold or store anything, but one could always get a little tool bag or make do. I think the most important thing in a stand is to be ergonomic, adjustable, and mobile (wheels). I also like dallasstarsfan's.

Click on the picture and it will bring you right to the page on the Northern Tool and Equipment website where they're sold.

Just a quick "thanks" to Redflea and Varuscelli for making this thread (as well as many others) enjoyable to someone in the market for a stringing machine. The ideas on this thread opened my eyes much wider for getting a tabletop unit over an upright. Thanks. -Lindros13

I haven't finalized a purchase of a table-top machine just yet, but I've started looking into customized tables/stands. Since I don't know the ideal height that I'll like, it seems best to find a table that is height-adjustable. (Not only height adjustable, but I'm also looking for one that folds up.)

Here are two possibilities that I've found:

1. Craftsman Professional Height Adjustable Clamping Table
(Adjusts from 28" to 43" in height; has a 30" x 20" surface area, which appears to be adjustable as well; it folds up; and weighs 45 pounds which is sort of heavy but it sustains 300lbs!)

2. Quiklok QL677 Utility Table
(Adjustable height from 21.5" to 37.5"; has a 30" x 15" platform; appears to fold up easily; and weighs 18lbs but it only rated up to 70lbs)

Can anyone else out there share some ideas or table/stand setups you've used or seen?

I saw one other similar recommended stand on another thread that was a folding-type table, but it's maximum height is only 34". Depending upon which table-top machine I get, this height may not be tall enough for me. Here's the photo:

Varuscelli: I think stands/tables could be a good addition to your photostringer.com website.

Check out this one <http://toolmongerdotcom/2006/09/12/hands-on-we-put-9465-lbs-on-huskys-x-workhorse/>. (change the dot to . and remove the brackets).

It's foldable, light weight and can hold up to 750lbs. I bought a couple from Costco for under $30 each. It's very easy to fold flat and seems very sturdy. I like it a lot.

Thanks, Volusiano, for the suggestion! I actually saw this exact fold-up stand at HomeDepot two days ago. That's about the only stand that they had, which I thought was decent. The negative part is that it is a fixed height. So if it's good for someone 5'10" then it will be too short for me at 6'1". This also obviously depends upon the height of the specific table-top machine. Since I don't know what I'll like, I'm really trying to focus on adjustable height stands (that also fold up). I don't think there are too many out there..... But I agree that this is one sturdy stand!

I know this is an old thread but just to add.

I string out of my small apartment so I need a table top machine and a folding table I can store when I'm not stringing. I have been using a small tv dinner style folding table but I'm 5'11" and the table height is 26" so my back starts hurting after 1 or 2 rackets. Alternatives I plan to try now are:

1. An ironing board, they are fairly sturdy and height is adjustable, going to steal one from my parents place and give it a try and if its good I'll buy one.
2. Amazon sells a folding table by cosco (not Costco) for $50 that goes up to 37" but it looks a little flimsy. I've seen a few other brands with the same table so they probably get it white label from china and slap their logo on it.

If anyone is interested I'll give an update.
