How to deal with sweaty hands

I’ll be in a match or practice and my grip starts to get really wet… and it almost unplayable I have to be thinking to hang on to the racket rather than be loose during my swing. I use tournagrip and I’ve tried the wilson paste… Im starting to think that it might be my replacement grip “head hydrosorb pro” should I try to get a leather one or change the current one? Are there any methods that you all use for sweaty hands and loose grips? (Already use the big wide wristbands)

Wristbands! I use the Tourna Wrist Towel.

Rosin! I use a rock rosin bag which can be purchased at any sporting goods store in the baseball section.

I find Wilson Pro Overgrips work great with rosin patted onto them. I find Head Prime Tour overgrips work great and do not need rosin patted onto them. As a matter of fact, they’re remain too dry and won’t be tacky of you do.

So in review…..
Giant wristbands and rosin will correct sweaty hands.

I have very sweaty hands and I play in ATL so its hot and humid. I use Dry Hands from Nelson Sports. Its basically a liquid talc and works great; you have to put it on at the start, before your hands get sweaty. I also use Tournagrips and I rotate rackets every 8-10 games. If you don't have multiple rackets, you can do like Richard Gasquet and just put on a new Tournagrip at every changeover.

There is no "majick" fix for sweaty hands in hot humid conditions. There are only mitigation actions. I think the best is wide towel type wrist bands on each wrist. Then change often as necessary.

make sure you don't touch the grip onto your sweaty shirt or shorts, this is what caused my grip to get so wet. in between points, hold the racket by the throat with your off hand. after i mastered these things, my grip is pretty much completely dry the whole match even though it's super hot (85-100 F) and humid (50-90%) outside and i sweat profusely.

I use Wilson Progrip Max lotion -- it works like magic and dries your hands instantly and keeps them dry for several games. Then just reapply and voila -- dry again. It's out of stock everywhere, but I'm assuming this stuff is exactly the same:

My friend let me use some of his yesterday and wow what a game changer it was. Just ordered two bottles for myself.

Never knew it existed and doesn’t leave your hands feeling grimey at all.

Sweat band?

A product called Carpe has been an absolute game changer for me. It’s hand antiperspirant lotion. Rub a little bit on your palm before warmup and it’s magic. Seriously.

it does contain an aluminum ingredient, just like most underarm antiperspirants, which some people find objectionable. But it works by stopping the sweat in the first place rather than trying to add friction or dry out sweaty hands.

Wrist bands
Or chalk like medvedev does

If using chalk or powder, make sure to get it good on the top and pinky side of your hand. Could also put some on your grip, but that's a bit risky, IMO.

I play on clay, so I rub the top of my hand in the dry clay, sticks to my hand and works like a charm.

  • Absorbent grip (NOT tacky)
  • Wrist band
  • Towel off as often as possible
  • Rosin bag (works super well for me)
  • Dry hand lotion (works for a few games but wears off; won't apply if hands are wet, so doesn't work for a whole match)
  • Rotate racquets
  • Re-grip as needed

Rotate racquets!

On really hot days, I will rotate every changeover and leave the racquet in the sun.

Also, using black overgrips instead of white can help. They attract/absorb more sunlight and dry faster

its like magic. People with sweaty hands who’ve never tried have no idea what they are missing.

Gorilla Gold GG701 Non-Toxic Grip-Enhancing Reusable Towel

wipe the towel on the grip. becomes super tacky that helps offset the sweaty grip.

i have really sweaty hands so.....

1.tacky grip ( wilson comfort for me )
2. wrist bands are a must
3.Hammer Grip Liquid Chalk - you'll have to apply often. it wipes off the hands maybe every 3 games. feels nice and dry one it sets on the hand though.
4. drip towel mentioned above.

so for me. given that the grip and the wrist bands are already on, i already wiped the grip towel on the grip so it's super tacky. play with it till it starts wearing off. make sure you're wiping hands with regular towel as often as possible to keep dry. when tackiness wears off, i start using the liquid chalk and keep reapplying. it will get messy on the racquet grip and throat if you grab it often.

as someone stated above. it's about mitigation, as prevention is most likely not possible; how do you stop sweating?

I tried Carpe but it didn't work for me.

I've been using Grip Shield and it helps.

I also wear long sleeve dri-fit shirts to help wick away the sweat and minimize it dripping down to my hands/palms.

I’m still working through my stock of the Wilson so haven’t ordered any Prince, but they are the same exact bottle. I would bet the same manufacturer white labels for both companies.
Thanks. I ordered a single bottle of Prince. As noted, above, the Wilson is out of stock everywhere or not carried. Most likely the weather will still be hot and humid enough to make it a good test when I receive it.

Changing grips more often, using your towel in between points, have multiple rackets to change out in matches. Those are things that work for me :)
Coming back to this almost a year later. Playing in south florida in +95 degree weather. Can confirm that there is no other way than this.

Also:
- Changing overgrips before (or even during, since it takes me 20s) each session.
- Volkl V-dry for humid days, Tourna Tac XL for the rest.
- Wrist bands
- 2 racquets
- Lotion- Wilson is back in stock, but Tourna is great as well.

All of the above but (like during this morning's muggy match in London) also squeeze around the butt of my grip with my towel to absorb the saturated sweat

Works a treat

i have seen people use the "grip lotion" for your hands. or talc/rosin bags.

i like blowing on my hands between points. makes me feel like fed

''Lotion- Wilson is back in stock, but Tourna is great as well'' unfortunately not in Greece-Europe
