First.

Let's talk about the coaching method that the great Harry Hopman used to produce some great players and future Champions.

He used the inside out method junior training one.

Meaning.

He would find what they did naturally by feeding them tons of balls.

Then.

He would use that as the foundation to build their own match play game around it and this is how he train Vitas, Mac, Fleming, and tons of other juniors.

And it worked!

Because when trying to discover your authentic style of play, you want to start with what you do naturally.

After that.

It's all about getting in the reps and adjusting after each one, until you discover that stroke.

Speaking a reps.

Leverage them in practice.

Hopman knew the power of reps, and he would have his players hit tons of balls in practice.

Now.

Let's talk about YOU.

Are you playing with a style that allows you to authentically express yourself on court?

If not, test out other styles of play as soon as you can.

Just a few tweaks here and there can have you winning more matches in months.

How about your strokes?

Are you getting in enough reps during practice?

My first coach with give us a daily target.

Like today, you must hit at least 3000 or 5000 reps!

The two biggest mistakes I see in coaching is not getting in enough reps or not having their players adjust after each one, to help them develop the shot faster!

Or.

Are you testing out shots in your matches?

Me myself.

I considered myself an all around player, who liked to work the point and come in on all short balls.

Anyway.

Here is my MAIN coaching point.

You maybe playing with a style that is not suitable for you in your matches now.

Also.

Many coaches make this mistake with their players, so make sure that the style you are using, is the best one to be using.

Does that make sense?

Another thing, and this is the most important coaching point of them all.

Ask yourself.

How much passion and authenticity are you playing with in your matches?

Now.

You may want to break out with a tennis journal and start writing your thoughts down on this subject and make the needed corrections in practice.

Alright then.

Please share your thoughts below.

And.

Happy New Year!
