how to find 4.5 league in SF Bay Area

Anyone looking for a player or tips for finding a league? I'm a passable 4.5 singles player, solid doubles player. I play UTR flex leagues through which I've built a nice roster I enjoy playing with but looking for the team aspect of a USTA league. I have tried going through the league coordinator with little success.

Go to Norcal USTA site and look up the 4.5 teams in your area. Find out who was captain and introduce yourself. Or see if there were any league players in your flex league and ask them for intro. Expect tryout if invited. There are so-and-so teams and really good teams. Depends on where you are rating wise and how far you’re willing to travel.

Next option is to start pinging 4.5 captains and let them know you are looking to join a 4.5 team. Or find a player on an existing 4.5 team that can make the introduction to the captain. You can search through USTA's tennislink site to find captain and player names.

Lots of teams operate out of some clubs. If there's any local tennis club, ask staff there about teams (you may have to join, so don't look at the expensive ones like bay club or whatever)

Some clubs might allow guests to play on their 4.5 teams if you are a strong 4.5 and the captain wants you on the team. They want the club team to win the league and might not have enough good 4.5 players wanting to play USTA weekend leagues. My club does this in Southern California and so it doesn’t hurt to call the local clubs near you.

DM me, I can connect you with some 4.5 captains

How has your experience with UTR been?

Great. I do it every season and it's how I find most of my matches and hitting partners. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

This page looks like it has potentially useful info and links, if you haven't found it yet:

Thanks!

That'd be awesome. DM'd.

If some of you are in San Francisco, I have a small question.
Does the "Golden Gate Tennis Club" still exist, one block from the water, maybe in the financial district,
or has it been replaced with offices and condos? I saw it in 1980.

The Golden Gateway TC no longer exists. The space is still a tennis facility under the Bay Club. The stupid city wants to redevelop but no plans supported by all the fractured groups keep it from happening. Their ideas about below market housing will prevent it from ever happening especially with the office space glut.

There is one in Foster City. Met a few of the guys and they are pretty good. I know they are running low on members so not sure if they have enough this year. If you want me to try and get you in touch with one of them lmk

If you're in the Bay Area, stop for a great lunch at Harry's Hofbrau in Redwood City.
( I hope it's still there. I moved away 30 years ago. Let me know.)
