How to find balance without balance board?

I know you can use a dowel but it doesn't tell you the exact balance point like you would with a balance board. Any suggestions? Thanks!

any sharp-edge ruler or a knife would do.
then measure the distance from the butt-cap.

You mean measure the distance from the butt cap to the pivot point on the sharp edge ruler? How do you translate that distance to the TW balance point system?

I think you can use a dowel rod and a yard stick. Some people use the edge of the table method too. Put your racquet at the edge of the table and move it down the table until the head starts to slightly pop off the table. I tried the edge of the table method myself, but it seems a little inaccurate. I was moving the racquet quite a bit and the distance the head would lift of the table would vary soo I didn't know exactly at what vertical distance off the table the head was suppose to be at to receive an accurate measurement. I'll probably try the dowel rod and yard stick/measuring tape combo soon.

balance the racquet on a pencil, dowel, rod, etc.

measure the distance from the center of the pencil, dowel, etc to the end of the but cap.

subtract 1/2 of the racquet length from the measured balance point and divide that number by .125.

negative number is head light, positive number is head heavy.

Like this. Measured 60+ strung rackets and they range from 31.25cm balance (PSC 6.1 95) to 34.25cm (F200), and most are in the 32-33cm range, so I'm fairly happy with the accuracy. I inscribed the CMs on my table, but I guess that's not necessary.
