How To Hit A One-handed Backhand????

I've just started to hit a one-handed backhand. I used to do a two-handed backhand, but i never got any real power behind my shots. So, I decided to convert to the one-hander. My problem is my one-handed backhand is inconsistent. Sometimes, I launch the balls out. I do not know what I'm doing wrong. The hardest part of the one-handed backhand is when the ball is "shoulder height." Can someone explain to me what the right technique is to a one-handed backhand????

There are many sites with video. You could search YouTube to start. A 1hbh is pretty much like any other shot except you have to hit farther out in front of your body since the front shoulder is pivot instead of the back. All the other rules of contact apply just like any other shot.

Aim the ball cap at the ball and go from low to high. I saw this great vid on youtube taught by some bald guy with a cool accent, which really simplified the stroke and now it works wonders. The secret to a great backhand is getting sideways parallel to the baseline and then swing with the arm low to high at the incoming ball. Thats it. You dont open up the body until you have mastered the stroke. Also you have to remain balanced as you bend the knees. "you sit a chair" until the stroke is complete then you can get up.

I got a one-hander. If you are a righty, make sure your right new is always bent. As you go to hit the shot, get your wrist under the ball and accelerate. You should get some nasty spin. Remember, mix in a few slices to get your opponent off balance.
