I'm having trouble to hit the ball on sweet spot, do you guys/girls have any tips? when i do top spin, i think the ball always hit on the right side of the strings, (i use right hand). So i just want to know how to hit it on sweet spot, and thanks.

I think its timing and ball judgement.

I saw on TTC, some coach was saying strokes he can develop.. But some playerse just can't judge the ball distance well and he can't fix that.. Something like that.. I didn't pay too much attention to it.

A lot of it is your eyes. I already did a thread on peripheral and focal vision. Focal vision is what most tennis players need to develop. Keeping your head still and having it face the contact zone is important.

It is very likely you focus on the ball as it is hit from your opponent, you watch it come over, then you shift into peripheral vision as you lose "focus" on the ball. Peripheral vision is a very weak vision system to play tennis with.

On of the easiest ways for me to get my focus better is to say HIT BOUNCE HIT. It clears my mind of distractions which is what causes focus to go in and out. Your emotions can cause you to lose focus as well.

Keep your eyes on the ball.. dont use OS... I keep framing with it... The MP really helped ... no more frame... One day I ll have 100% sweet spot hits

i've never understood why people say that they frame the ball a lot on an OS? why? isn't the head size bigger? i personally am switching from an OS to a MP soon though :D

I think the best way would be to find a racquet with head size as big as the ball and just long enough so that the string bed is right where a normal racquet has its sweet spot. A more realistic way(besides seeing the ball) is the feel for the sweet spot. You can develop it rather easily by bouncing the ball against the court and hitting it just with the sweet spot. You have to feel where the sweet spot is without even striking a ball, just while holding the racket you should know here it is.

hitting sweetspot

I find that my ability to hit the sweetspot is equal to the degree to which I can keep my head still before and during the swing. Running with a jarring, up-and-down action causes my head to bounce up and down, causing dizziness. Jarring my head during the swing causes the ball (and the whole environment) to appear to jerk away suddenly to a different position.

But if I can keep my head still, then it is easy to see the ball clearly, and to predict its path to my racquet.

Staying balanced also helps, because the feeling of falling can cause me to make a sudden involuntary adjustment that upsets my intended stroke.

I agree! Although I've taken it a step further, MIDSIZE is the way to go! ;)
