hi!

this is my first post and i'm a relatively new to tennis (2 1/2 years) but i've always diligently practiced sports and since giving tennis a chance (due to serious and repetitive injuries on contact sports) have been reeeally enthusiastic regarding the possibilities it presents both physically and equipment wise

since i'm from portugal and the local selection of equipment and know-how is lacking, i've been exhaustively wandering the immensity of information tt provides and learning a lot (compared to the vast majority of the seasoned tennis players i've been coming across i'm an expert, most people don't give themselves to the trouble of understanding what they have or could help them, as long as it's what they deem cool to use)

so, i guess, the previous ranting is a thank you to all the posters that have been sharing their experience and guiding less knowledgeable people like me get on the right track

but i digress, so back at the task at hand!

i've been trying to extend some rackets i have (1/2 inch with sugru and superglue) but still haven't figured the best way/equipment to remove a buttcaps' staples without damaging either the buttcap or the handle

the best way, so far, was resorting to a corkscrew prying a the staple of the handle and then with a pair of pliers remove it, but it still leaves deep grooves in the handle and bends considerably the buttcaps' "wings" where they were attached (and already killed two corkscrews in the process)

could any of you please point me in the most obvious direction i'm missing?

thanks in advance

I take a flat head screw driver and gently slide it down the buttcap and push the handle toward the racquet handle so it pushes the butt cap staple away from the racquet.

Then after you have it sticking out a tad you can usually get some needle nosed pliers to grab the staple.

There is probably some tool that works better but never was unable to remove a staple this way or trashed a handle

I did a thread where I extended a racquet with sugru so its pretty easy if I can do it...

It’s not getting them out, it’s getting them back in! I can’t seem to find the right staples or stapler. Where do you buy it at?

I use kind of an ice pick to get under the staple and pry it up.

I cant find the particular staples the manufacturers use, and if you could i think you need an electric staplegun toget them in anyways.

So i use a little bit of 5 min araldite.
