How to ship racquets?

Okay so I've been reading a couple of posts ons here and the internet to find out the best way to ship racquet. All suggestions seems to lead to getting 2 priority mail box from usps and tape them together. Well I read the faq from this page http://****supplies.usps.com/odcs/custom.htm?Template=FAQ and this is what number 6 saids:

6. Can customers alter flat-rate boxes to accommodate larger items?
No. The box flaps must be able to close within the normal folds. Customers may apply tape to the flap and seams to reinforce the box, but they cannot enlarge the design of the box by opening the sides and taping or reconstructing the box in any way.

So do they let you ship it if it is taped together?

i've never used a flat rate priority box, but i use the regular priority mail ones to send racquets all the time. just tape them together and you're all set. From that number six above, it sounds like they are saying that you have to stick with one box, rather than tape several together. I would just go to the post office and ask.

I have friend who works at a box plant, so mine are customized.....Hmmmmm, maybe I should get into a business and sell boxes perfect for mailing out racquets. The boxes are very strong, usually as strong if not stronger than UPS or USPS boxes. Just fill in the voids with newspaper and you are set

You can't use the "flat rate" boxes, but the other similar shaped USPS priority boxes are fine.

All of the USPS Priority Mail boxes that are free ARE flat rate boxes...

You can tape them together and ship something out, but you aren't going to get the flat rate.

Has your friend seen the Simpsons episode in the box plant? I can imagine it just like that :D
