I've seeing posts on Twitter about how top players have been spending hundreds of thousands and a large portion of their prize money to cover basic tennis expenses.
So how wealthy are top tennis stars?
I read somewhere that Federer is probably a billionaire if his off court earnings are taken into account, but I thought his net worth was half of that.

- €200K when he was Top 150
- €400-500K now, this includes payments to his team and covers their travel/hotel expenses.
Over the years, wIth taxes, it amounts to "40%" his official career prize money ($6.5M).

Not at all wealthy . ATP top ten still has to sell candy bars door to door to raise money for their traveling expenses. Even worse if they don't sell everything they have to pay out of pocket for every unsold bar at the atp council meeting.

Unless you're top 50 you're not gonna be rich. Probably the reason kids who are the best athletes go into other sports. My kids play tennis and I pay a ton of money for privates, tournaments and group lessons....my wife and I just say to each other "what's the end game here?"

Prize money is only the half of it for the very top players as they earn extraordinary amounts in sponsorship and typically bank serious amounts of appearance money for the non-mandatory events (around the $250-500k mark to appear at a 500 series event, iirc).
