Hey, it's been a while. How's things with you guys and with tennis? :)

I'll be honest, I've kinda lost interest in following tennis. Nothing to do with Fed or Rafa/Djok or any other player, I just found a new hobby I guess. Lock picking  turns out I'm pretty decent at it. I still play tennis for exercise though, it's still the best sport around

But I have enjoyed my time here and don't want to disappear totally. Anyone done anything cool lately? Any funny drama happen?

Couple of juicy threads got deleted.

Tennis is getting harder and harder to watch now a days, cant blame you. Its decent to watch while cleaning the bathroom and stuff. No idea how the repetition isnt driving more fans away

it is...

But I keep thinking @Meles will save us.
So are we getting sick of the Mad Lad era already?:D

I've found it very watchable with most of the players surging in form. Let me looks if anyone stands out for failure...:
RBA definitely has fallen short on my expectations
Nishikori injured as usual, but largely a WTF pigeon
Isner has floundered a bit after winning the Museum Slam retro addition in Newport with all those lovable bad/low bounces - hardly a tragedy for the game though I do enjoy my Tiebreakners
Pouille - injured, but not really a top ten threat these days
Cilic - in freefall and probably the most shocking year, and his worthlessness deep in slams of late confirmed.

Too many players doing all too well to mention. Is it just the Big 3 fans on here miss the pigeons of yore? Really I don't get it unless you're into bringing Zombie's back from the dead who have plummeted downwards its really been a fine, fine year. Must be Pigeons of Yore Syndrome.;)

The solution to Pigeons of Yore Syndrome is start watching the new Diamond Age threats:
1. Tsitsipas at 21 is coming on strong and may well win WTF especially if he proves tomorrow he owns Djokovic:-D
2. Medvedev, aka Mad Lad, is pure box office and has made this the strongest hard court year on record with the four top players points won numbers exceptionally healthy.
3. Thiem is getting over the hump on hard courts and now has won more indoor hard court events than Nadal for his career. 2000 points worth of hard court trophies this year and very exciting player to watch.
4. Zverev is rounding back into some skeleton of form, but the new threats at WTF will make a repeat for him a long shot
5. Berrettini with a lot of help from French fans just got demoted to Tsonga lite, but Paris fans really over the top this year.
6. Shapovalov under all court favorite Youzhny's tutelage is smoking hot right now and may save Berrettini WTF spot by beating Monfils (a new man with his new woman sparking him.)
7. De Minaur has exploded despite an injury inflicted year and appears likely to make the top 10 by the end of Wimbledon
8. Rublev is rocketing back to possibly the top of the Russian heap and is just under two years youngerer than the Mad Lad.
9. FAA out with injury, but an astounding year despite falling badly after Wimbledon

I'm really amazed at the year because I've added two players to my original Diamond Age Tier 1 group of:
1. Zverev - 22 - the only one floundering, but still made WTF
2. Tsitsipas - 21
3. Shapovalov -20
4. FAA -19
New:
5. Medvedev - 23
6. De Minaur - 20 (who I've added because of fantastic stats surprisingly driven by his serve game.o_O)

And a 7th may be on the horizon and will be strutting his stuff at Milan in less than a week:

Sinner - 18 is now being heralded as the top Italian prospect with results expected better than

That should be 7 players better than Andy Murray on the horizon. Fascinating to watch them tangle with the Big 3 while they've still got a lot of game in them (Nadal this year has his best hard court stats of his career.)

No, I definitely enjoy the spark we are starting to get. I just don't see them taking any slams any time soon. But outside the slams things are more interesting for sure.

You better run all day and run all night
And keep your dirty feelings deep inside
And if you're taking your girlfriend out tonight
You better park the car well out of sight
'Cause if they catch you in the back seat trying to pick her locks
They're gonna send you back to Mother in a cardboard box

On the slam front it is still early for all but the Mad Lad and of course Thiem (but only at RG with long, long shot at US Open with right draw). Tsitsipas probably will have an explosion up in level like Medvedev in the next year or so and Zverev ditto and of course all the rest. Tsits and Zverev could start going deep regularly. In fact on the Tsits front he is going to do quite well next year. He basically developed a Federesque game and then tried to use this style on clay and it took til Madrid to figure it out. Meanwhile he went crazy (along with Zverev) playing every single week and burnt himself out for a while. I doubt that mistake happens again and his return games looks like it might be picking up some much needed steam. Analyzing last two slams:
27 / 2019 Wimbledon
R128 Grass Thomas Fabbiano Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4 3-6 6-4 6-7(8) 6-3 - this was a burnout special and Fabbiano on a mission
35 / 2019 US Open
R128 Hard Andrey Rublev Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4 6-7(5) 7-6(7) 7-5 - lol Federer lite got rolled by Rublev too. :-D

The US Open was a horror draw given Rublev's overall top ten form since Wimbledon. So yeah Tsits is a lock to go deep at all the slams next year. Shapo under Youzhny also may be ready to pull off some upsets.....

Zedrot, a couple respectable SFs need to happen next year minimum; he's running out of time for that Mad Lad type explosion in ability with 2021 probably defining his ceiling.

Some tablets are actuallly water proof. I still marvel at a portable tv :)
Well if you want the Cadillac I recommend the Ipad Pro 10.5 that came out two years ago (think its still sold for probably less than $400 on the street.) They also have newer version that is 11 and quite a bit more expensive. If you want big get the 12.9. I regret not coughing up another $150 for the 12.9. These have true perfectly calibrated color screens that will put to shame anything short of a QLED/OLED or very high quality TV (and those you have to pay to calibrate).

I use my ipad pro 10.5 as a TV all the time. It also has Dolby Vision and HDR movies on itunes which are eye popping.

I'm a tablet freak and the perfect one is years away as your go to personal home theater/TV:
1. The large $1100 Iphone X's have OLED screens, but the technology way to expensive for tablets. Apple is trying to develop a superior screen for tablets but its very touch and go (they almost gave up on it a year ago). In short a 4K Oled tablet with Dolby Vision/HDR is on the long term horizon
2. This all goes well with the incoming 5G technology which will make the tablet a home theater you can take to the park
3. The other aspect is Atmos for headphones sound and something that simulates it for tablet speakers (DTS X Headphone did this, but not adopted widely). Its wickedly good as standard headphone takes stereo recording made for loudspeaker playback and jams that in your ear (headphone freak in the past got binaural recordings). The beauty of Atmos or the like is it does the sound field of a surround system virtually for headphone playback. Its a giant leap because it is a unified format for home theaters with up to 20 channels and a two channel headphone or advance tablet speaker setup.

I'll be shocked if the dumb dumbs at Apple wake up to the above reality and do it soon, but their tablets smoke the others for performance by a mile. But with Apple you're dealing with sonic dolts. Somebody will figure it out and put the perfect tablet out which will make regular TVs and home theaters of the past nearly go the way of the dodo bird. Its astounding sound for the masses for relative peanuts.

Get yourself a nice Ipad for Black Friday if you don't already have one for the best visuals right now.;) Mine is a Tennis TV machine hehe.

I would never buy apple. They are way too restrictive for the stuff i do.

No need for oled and hdr when your watching streams. My 2" speaker doesnt really need atmos either :)
5g is good, but im not doing lan transfers, 2g is fine (streams are around 5mps, 2g maxes at like 74)
No headphones, never liked them. Also dont need an i9 on my tablet, not gonna edit video using a touch screen

All i need is a bigger screen (mine is 10.1), 32 gigs of storage (i dl and put stuff on it) and usb3

Yeah it is quite suspicious. I had to take jail broken older ipad and put to "latest" software. OMG. The thing took a real hit, most of the software no longer works. Its basically criminal.

I'm kind of a video freak and want hdr/dolby vision on my next laptop, but those are just trickling out. My 2012 HP 17 inch laptop on Windows 10 has new life and runs quite well though my video card is starting to limit some software. I'm on third drive for it, but still just runs great. The Ipad is the same age and virtually useless.

I think I'm going to look to alternatives in the future. The video on ipad is off the charts. I loved it so much that I splurged on 65 inch Oled for my big screen and then got sucked into hdmi sound system. So much potential out there right now, but these manufacturers keep missing the mark.

I'm surprised Apple is not being exposed for being environmentally hazardous.

Very sensible. I'll never own one of their laptops. I am about to add 10 more terrabytes of storage to get myself up to 40 TB for my movie collection, but I'm 4K freak/snob and that is not going mobile anytime soon.

I am not using much in the way of mobile data. Your approach sounds brilliant for tennis on the go.

I've been thinking about jailbreaking an Amazon fire tablet 12.9 (would buy one on black friday). Do you really watch stuff on the go using cell data? How much data do you use? I have a phone that is a hotspot as well, but I'm so cheap I get my unused data refunded and basically rely on wifi most of the time. I did watch Thiem v Medvedev match using tennis TV "SD" thread, it crushed about 500 mb of data in 20 minutes so I've not tried that again with my plan.

Are you running a plex server? You can access your entire collection from anywhere in the world, just need interent. Watch on phone, tablet etc.

I mostly use lan data. I see ppl advertising 10gigs like its alot, i guess for a cell phone it is.

I still dont know what jailbreaking means. I do set up iptv and kodi on the firesticks and Sheild's. The jailbroken ones i saw have so many plugins you will never use. I need two plug ins for my kodi, exodus and ccloud (iptv backup). I dont need 25 plug ins that all lead to same repository.

DIfferent streams use different compression, there is balance between bps and local cpu power to decode. Im watching football now. Uses h246, im getting a 720p stream at 60fps (i like high fps for sports).

Since october 3rd i have used 350 gigs on the tablet. But its always on, next to this computer or where i go around the house. Doesnt look mobile friendly

How is it going, Meles. What's new with you?
Well just found out my roof and some porches got hail damage. Right now turning contractor loose on insurance company to pick up new sheathing, plus new gutters, plus all new aluminum porches. Just found out roof has 4 entire layers of shingles on it to boot. So kind of on pins and needles as this is kind of big stuff financially attacking the larder, but it should make me better off in long run. Just a lot of grey area and my house is quite nice inside so just makes me anxious replacing the roof and they peel back stuff and they have 2-3 days worth of nonsense facing them to do roof right and then insurance company trying to wriggle out, etc. and leave the bill with me. So far insurance seems pretty good. So that whole deal is sucking up a lot of time and I may have to restore some of the porches myself and painting weather fading fast right now. A lot of stuff to process for Meles.:D

Things other than tennis on back burner with that whole deal rolling down. Probably going to do some Black Friday deal shopping for 10 TB or so USB hard drive and the usual Amazon window shopping (quite please with bar ware from last year.) Otherwise not thinking that far out. Also some lingering financial planning to be done in the next month. I'm on the complete tight ass budget plan right now and we'll see if I can do it.;) No more blowing large sums of money though I just dropped $1k on classical vinyl albums (yes I collect those.) Time for some real belt tightening.:p Also trying to improve health habits and just started monitoring sleep two nights ago.

Thats no biggie, just a little bit more demo and bigger dumpster. They strip it down to the wood either way.

You can also pay out of pocket to get better stuff. Ex insurance pays you 7k in damage, the fancy roof is 8k, its worth it sometimes. I got very nice shingles on the house instead of the old ugly ones, $800 more but im getting free roof anyways

Ooof! that sounds rough with the roof thingy. Hopefully, it's not as big damage or that costly to replace. Roofs are always costly though. Thank God I am in condo building!

Some expensive taste you've got there. :) Love the idea of collecting classical vinyl albums. Great hobby. I am working out a great deal (just regular gym and yoga/pilates etc.) and also, trying to improve eating as much as possible. Why are you monitoring your sleep?
