Hybrid - poly in mains or crosses ?

Heloo everyone, i havent posted here for a long time.

Well i hav gamma pro in my rds 001 & alu power in my rdx 500. I havent used my rdx 500 for a long time since i got my rds 001 & when i hit with it the strings are infact DEAD.

So i want new strings, im thinking a hybrid as i have never had one before and would like to try it out. If im getting new strings for my rdx i might aswell get new strings for mr rds too.

I'm thinking alu power with a good playability string. synthetic gut or multi im not really bothered. What do u suggest?

Ermmm can someone tell me what are the advantages n disadvantages in putting the poly in the crosses? Since hewitt has it like that then so am i :D lol i've heard that the poly in the crosses will dig right into the syn/multi in the mains? is this always the case? Also is playability better like this or normal hybrid with poly mains?

well, you pretty much get all your spin from the mains. putting poly in the crosses will generally result in less durability. depends what you want. poly mains will give you more durability and a stiffer feeling stringbed. poly crosses will stiffen up a soft string bed (like a multi or gut main) but durability will suffer.

this is a good read, even though it is a gut hybrid. still some good observations to help you out

If you're stringing your own, I'd suggest sticking with poly mains, because poly crosses are difficult to weave and will probably leave your fingers aching unless you use rubber thimbles or some sort of finger protection. Durability is also better with poly mains. I can't speak about the feel because I've never tried poly crosses.

Mains. Just don't listen to Roger Federer.

No, you shouldn't listen to ANYONE. Just try both (if you can afford it). I really like poly in crosses. Much more feel, and control is still there. However, watch out for power, more power than you might think, and less durable and less spin.
