Hybrid Tension?

When doing a poly main and syngut cross I see that most up the tension on the cross. I'm guessing that's just standard since syngut plays better at higher tension than poly.

What's the standard for the differential. How much is too much higher and what are the +\- of the different #s?

Example why 52/55 instead of 52/60?

Is 48/60 out of the question?

I use 2 lb tighter for syngut, 3 lb tighter for multi, and 4 lb tighter for gut. I would use these same guidelines for using the soft string on the mains. The reasoning is that you want to make the soft string feel a little stiffer to match the stiffness of the poly. But you don't want to make it so tight that the main string won't deflect well and so tight that it won't lend some power and softness to the hybrid setup. The poly helps keep the springiness of the low tension soft string in check.

Thanks for the response Muppet. Is 2# the standard for everyone?

Here's my delima: I have always strung my polys full bed tight like 57-60# range. I'm getting into hybrids to save $ and I have some new poly to try out. I want it to perform at its best in the mains mixed with some Gosen OMS cross. I've been advised to string the poly in the 40's but Im scared of a trampoline feel. So how high can I go on the poly main and Gosen crosses? And what differential?

You're welcome gtshark1. What I said is pretty standard, but you might deviate for a frame that is wider, softer in the sides, or etc. My Head Radical OS is very wide across the center, so I go up a lb. on the cross string. Also for a more elastic syngut you might want to go with a multi tension, etc.

Your own experimentation will give you the best results, but it is nice to have some guidelines.
