Hybrid vs multifilament question

I play D-2 College Tennis, both singles and doubles. I own a Wilson BLX 95 racket. Currently I've been stringing with Technifibre X-1 Biphase 17. I really like this string but now my coach has started ordering string for the team so it would be free for me to use. Our coach ordered Luxilon Banger ALU Power Ice along with Prince Synthetic Gut to be used as a hybrid.

My question is, should I stick with buying the Technifibre string or should I switch to the team's string? Which is better: Technifibre X-1 Biphase 17 or a hybrid of Luxilon Banger ALU Power Ice and Prince Synthetic Gut?

Thank You!

well luxilon dies faster then X-1 but that hybrid may be a really enjoyable hit while it lasts. Its up to you and if you really prefer the X-1 over the Luxilon/Synthetic Gut Hybrid. It would also save money to use the string the coach gives you since you would playing a lot ;)

Isn't luxilon usually known for being a long lasting poly? I haven't tried the hybrid before so I'm not really sure how they compare. I'm not a quick string breaker so I'm looking for the best in playability.

There is the money issue of course.. but going from a full TF X-1 to a poly hybrid might not be a minor adjustment. If I was in-season.. and I was your coach.. you are one of my better players.. I would not ask you to make a move like this in-season. If you were moving the X-1 to some other similar multi.. I would feel better about the move. Also consider that the x-1 is a arm friendly string..while the poly/hybrid may not be so kind to your arm and shoulder/wrist.. etc. The poly hybrid is also not a long lasting set-up in terms of playability compared to the x-1.

Since the hybrid job would be free for you, it's at least worth a try, you just may like it.Give him an extra racquet to string up for you. As commented earlier, the playing characteristics will not last that long, and when you see that its time to restring.
If you don't like the string, then use what you prefer.Everyone has different preferences, and only you will really know what would be the best string for you to use. After you use it a while you may just stick with the X-1 as many like that string.Don't let your coach tell you what to use, its your choice.

Any opportunity to try different strings is good. You may only want to use it in practice unless you really dig it.
