Anyone tried the hybrid of yonex poly tour spin + yonex poly tour pro información yonex ezone 98??
This strings of Casper Ruud

is tour spin harder and less prone to notching? Full bed of poly tour yellow 1.25 notches for me in like 30 min

Blue poly tour pro seems to notch less than yellow but plays way tighter?

Correct, I strung the poly tour pro looser by 3 lbs

Not sure about the PTP, but the PT Spin is really stiff--on par with strings like Tour Bite. Be careful how tight you string it, and I'd go a gauge thinner than what you're used to.

I havent used PTSpin in a while, but last time was with PTFire crosses in a Tour G 310. Im going to try it in some of the newer Yonex racquets that are a lot more comfortable because, as mentioned, it is incredibly stiff. I also found some PTSpin 1.20 on 4mazon UK which doesnt seem to be widely available in the U.S. I think it will go well with Ghostwire crosses.

How did the combo feel compared to other strings you've tried? How did it feel overall?

PT Spin is a very stiff and dead string. It works better in a tweener/power frame, not in an Ezone 98. Try PT strike and PTP combo. It was my goto combo on my Ezone98. Plush string bed with more crisp feel, really nice.

I recently played with PTSpin 1.20 with PTF 1.20 @ 47/44. As many have said, PTSpin is deader and stiffer than the strings like Cyclone and V-Square. There isn't much "give" and thus, less feel and movement. The launch angle is also lower, so strangely it's a nice control string when swinging against faster incoming balls, but conversely doesn't allow as much "buntability". It felt dead on the volleys, so blocking passing shots had to be simple volleys and not touch/spin shots in my hands.
I can see a baseliner who likes to swing and can generate their own pace liking this combo, but the bite isn't good like Cyclone, not even close to something like V-Square. Looking at the notching, I'd say it's a little tougher than V-square and comparable with Cyclone 18L 1.15mm, which isn't great. Personally, for the cost, I would give it a pass.

YPT Spin 1.20 is a good twine. Strings easy, good playability and bite. My 5.5 customer likes it in the cross with 16 gauge natural gut in a Vcore 95.

I haven't played it fullbed but may give it a try soon (=> not normally a polyester player myself).

I used this hybrid combination once, but imho Poly Tour Pro is not the best cross string for us hobby players due to how quickly it loses tension and bags out. But if you can restring yourself after every 8-10 hours of play, surely its one of the best all-purpose setups out there. I for one switched to MSV Co Focus as cross, as it holds tension much better and also works very well with Poly Tour Spin. In VCore 100 I string them at 23 kg, in the Ezone 98 at 18kg.

-i tought i saw a WTA player (at wimbledon) using yonex.vcore stick and light blue strings on mains and something else
-this could be the ypt.SPIN ?!?!

yeah Zidansek looks like she's also rocking the Ruud setup with PTP x PTS

Just tried this combo in the 2020 ezone 100 @ 48 pounds. Drills and a set. Really liked it. Good combo of spin , pop and feel. We will see in the next few hours how it plays

What would you think of a hybrid with Poly Tour pro and RPM Blast? Blast on mains and PTP on crosses? Its probably irrelevant question as i am nearly surely switching to full PTP, but because i still have like 125m of Blast reel i might give it a go if i dont sell it straight away. Probably no point in doing it if PTP was so good for me on first tests and removed golfer's elbow pain but still. Would such hybrid make any sense at all and would there be significant difference with stiffness between this hybrid and full PTP?

@Rabbit tagging you here too as we discussed hybrid before PTP

I have that in a vcore95 that I don’t use often. Whenever I use it I find that hybrid is good enough. I think I’d still pick the poly tour spin and pro hybrid before but it’s similar. I also like and played a couple of reels with full ptp. It’s a nice string for the price

@Psi7 - yeah, for a while, I played around with hybriding polys. I used two Pacific polys in a hybrid. One was their version of ALU in the mains and their version of TiMO in the crosses. I know Feli Lopez does the same thing, ALU in the mains and TiMO in the crosses (or did). It's worth playing around with it you really like polys.

Or you could try one of the pre-packaged ones:

I did. This one has insane spin, really too much.

It makes a difference. Worth experimenting with.

I like full ptp but was looking for more spin. Ended up falling in love with ptp cross and rpm rough mains. Those are closer together in stiffness than what you are proposing so I feel confident it’s “worthwhile”.

no other setup (full orhybrid) feels as good to me as where I landed.

if you like rpm blast but switched to soften the bed. Then it’s worth throwing ptp in the cross.

My logic here was that i could go with different hybrid. Used this for reference https://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/comparestrings.php and noticed that Blast was really stiff one, so if i have to get more spin i might go with lets say hybrid of what Ruud is using Poly Tour Spin with Poly Tour Pro instea dof PTP and Blast. I have 10 more strings in my reel of Blast that i could use but if i get away from pain with full PTP i dont think i will be willing to test hybrid with that Blast and risk getting pain back if i can use softer ones like Spin for example.

At the same tension I’d take full bed ptp before the hybrid of pts and ptp. I’m don’t my testing pack but if I’d try again I’d go a 2 lbs lower. It’s still a very nice hybrid but pts stiffens up / removed pocketing on the string bed. I’ll add that poly tour pro has good enough spin by itself.
