Hybrids: Criteria for choosing mains and crosses

Double Fault

Semi-Pro
I bought a Luxilon hybrid to take try it out. I use Pro Hurricane Tour 17g but I'm always trying out new things. Anyway, I've never been a fan of hybrids so I don't know what the criteria for choosing which string for the mains or crosses.

This is the hybrid I bought: http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageACWILSON-BBACETCH18.html

Luxilon Big Banger ACE 18g
Luxilon Big Banger Supersense 16L

Which one should I choose for which part of the stringbed? TW says that I should put the ACE on the mains for more control. Is it really like this? Is there a noticeable difference?

i like their suggestion
"The thin 18 gauge Ace also does a good job of opening up the stringbed for better spin potential."
s because they are luxilon, both should hold up in regards to durability, the better spin would be with their suggestion, the other string seems to be for the pure feel effect
if these where the same string and different guage then the choise would be easy, just go with the suggestion of the manufacturer IMO

My basic understanding:
18 in the mains= more spin, less durability
18 in the crosses= less spin, more durability

yes, you experience the type of mains you have, the most
someone put a percentage one time on this
i think it was something crazy llike 80% mains and like 20% crosses on most shoots
this number i think is mostly guesstimate but it does paint a picture for me which in my opinion sounds correct
ofcourse on volleys the crosses come into play alot more then the mains i am guessing
thats why i use soft synthetic guts on the crosses and poly on the mains, so that volleys are not so harsh on my arm
unlike my example how ever, their are people like federrer who prefer poly/harsh/stiff string on crosses and softer string on mains, why i have no idea, maybe its to maintain the power they have from the springy mains

Awesome. I thought this was the case, but I was too afraid to trust my judgment since I had absolutely no clue and needed confirmation.

Ok, I'll string as recommended.
