Hydration Help

I play around 2 hours of competitive singles tennis a couple of times a week. I've been drinking either 2 tablets of Nuun Hydration or High5 Zero with 32oz of water for a while now and that seems to be working well for me. Usually if I finish the first 32oz, I just go with plain water from there. I prefer to keep the calorie count down and don't want to drink anything that's unhealthy for me, but I feel as if maybe I need something that will also give me a bit of energy that might help my game, especially once I hit the 1.5 hour or so mark.

Any suggestions?

For singles, I typically drop 4 Nuun tablets in 64 ounces of water. I'll take 6-8 salt stick pills as well. If my energy drops, then I'll eat a gu which also has electrolytes but gives me a boost within a few minutes.

If you are looking to add calories to your electrolytes, you may want to try Hammer HEED. It is superfluous in that role. I prefer the NUUN tabs to the Hammer Fizz, but HEED is unbeatable.

After 17 years of coaching high schoolers I've determined ... it depends. (Sorry, but it does.)

Everyone is different. Keep experimenting until you find your combo.

Me? I take a quart of water, a quart of E-mergen-C water and a pint or two of Coconut Water to Singles matches. (I also have Manuka Honey paks and Clif Shot Gels.)
