Hyper G vs Revolution

Looking for a comparison between the two. Playing with hyperG 18g now, but like the idea of blue strings in my ultra tour. The revolutions look similar, what do they play like.

I've played with both. I would say hyper g doesn't play as stiff as rev, although rev plays very consistent and is solid. Hyper g tension maintenance and playability I think are better, but rev is definitely an overlooked string. I know some D1 guys who only play revolution 16g at 60lbs, and love it way more than hyper g, although hyper g and tour bite are seen on more frames I believe

Okay so Hyper G is a really good quality string first and foremost. It does play a bit more stiffer than revolution but not by much from my experience. Hyper G for me provided a more "spinny" experience than revolution but I hit a more flat ball so the revolution works better for me in that aspect. Both strings are pretty similar in the power and control department, with Revolution I think being a bit more powerful.

Now the question for you since you're using the Ultra Tour. Are you looking for more spin or power? Since both are relatively the same in the control/comfort/play-ability department -- that'll be the deciding factor for you. Also, do you have multiple rackets that you could get strung with both and just feel them out?

Or you could also try Volkl Cyclone -- very similar to both IMO.

I used to have a deal with Solinco and stocked up on almost all of their strings when I strung for my college club team.

Revolution is a string I always wanted to like. I like the color, and I like shaped poly strings, but I never gelled with it. It plays harsher than Hyper G, and about as stiff as Tour Bite, but I felt as though it doesn’t grab the ball quite as well. Full beds of Revolution always felt like they lost tension far too quickly, and my shots would start to fly.

I did have a ton of success using it in the crosses with Tour Bite and Hyper G. It looks kinda weird, but it really was a nice setup, and seemed to play pretty consistently thoughout it’s life.

Anyway, I’d recommend it simply because strings are subjective and you might have a better experience, but I can’t say I’ll use it again.

I have Revolution in my Beast 100 but have not hit it yet. I am very familiar with Hyper G so will be able to give a comparison

I’ve tried both in 18 gauge in the Phantom Pro 93P. Revolution was stiffer and lost tension more quickly, but had more spin out of the box. Hyper G was more well-rounded. Both looked awesome. I preferred Hyper G.

Hyper G is more muted feeling, if a bit “plasticky.” Revolution is definitely crisper, often on the edge of harsh. Revolution doesn’t do as well holding tension. I prefer Hyper G.

Revolution is crisper than Hyper G, spin and control is similar. Hyper G has a bit more power. I prefer the feel of Hyper G.

Same here. I played with both last year, and decided to stick with Hyper G. I don't think Revolution brings much to the table compared to Hyper G.

Just hit with the Revolution again. Definitely played a little better for me after a couple hours hitting. It's crisp, but not uncomfortable and has some pop and it's also very spin-friendly. Hyper G for me just has a little more of everything. If you find Hyper G a little lively this could be the string for you...

Revolution is good. If you found hyper-g too lively, use tour bite. It’s basically a stiffer version of the same string. Both square shaped poly strings from solinco

I know that Tour Bite has tested stiffer by about 10% than Hyper-G, but I found that Tour Bite had a bit more power and a bit less bite than Hyper-G. Both 1.30 gauges and both strung at the exact same tension. In any case, they're very close to each other in playability.

I'm looking for an 18g more crisp than Hyper-G 18g for my 93P. I thought the Hyper-G 18g was too muted for that frame. Maybe I'll try Revolution.

In that case, Revolution 18 might be what you’re after, as long as you don’t mind a shorter playability duration.

To me Revolution is a deader/lower powered string. Spin is good on both, the Hyper G has a little bit more of an elastic feel to me with a little more pop.
