I am resigned to Rafa losing tomorrow

Even though I am the biggest Nadal fan on this forum, I am a realist and realize what a tough draw Rafa has. I predicted Klizan would beat him but Rafa proved me wrong to my delight by beating Klizan by the same scoreline as their FO match last year.

But Nadal still looked very vulnerable for much of the match so I know Rosol will beat him tomorrow. It's terrible but it is better that I skip to the acceptance stage of my grief now for his impending loss. I hope Rafa can recover and repeat last year's summer hard court success. Rosol will win 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

jinx, jinx, jinx.
Poisoned has it right. Straights for Rafa, max. 4.

Here's some Déjà vu for you

No way lightning strikes twice.. even though it would be so sweet.

I don't think Rafa will win this tournament... but something tells me he'll be HIGHLY motivated to win tomorrow.

Maybe the fact that Rosol had his father with him in 2012 and tomorrow won't will motivate him as well. He played lights-out tennis in 2013 Bucharest with that motivation.

Why is Rafa the butt of all jokes here? He'll shoulder his way past Rosol, who won't get a whiff of a win. Rosol may challenge at times, but Rafa will always nose ahead by picking his shots carefully. I don't even see Rafa having to dig too deeply either.

Don't waste time worrying about Rafa, he'll impose his will on Rosol who would have to just wait to serve until Rafa's good and ready.

I've no idea why you've put all those words in italics. Very odd.

But back on topic, I hope he doesn't bottle it...

He won't lose.

I'm a pretty open-minded person and I don't think it'll happen again. Nadal's going to mind his P's and Q's this week to make sure he doesn't fall in the early rounds for the 3rd year in a row. He started well by taking care of Klizan, a pretty good 1st round opponent and will be prepared as much as he can for Rosol tomorrow.

The only way I see him losing to Rosol again is if the whole hype attached to this match gets to his head or if he's still carrying the baggage from that loss in 2012. Either way, a loss tomorrow would be 100% due to mental issues.

But, according to Uncle Toni, he's been injured since 2011, before that he made 5 finals.

A player LIKE Rosol would have a much better chance. Rafa will be nervous but he is used to is. Rosol is going to feel more pressure than he has at any other time in his career. Nadal in 3

Rosol played the match of his life to beat Rafa in 2012, he literally sold his soul in that that 5th set, it was just winner after winner. No chance thats happening again

Rafa to deliver a Rosol beatdown. No way lightning will strike twice. Unless the heavens open and we get a match under the roof.

If the roof wasn't closed, Nadal would have won that match, IMO. Hopefully, it's sunny and hot tomorrow.

Actually I don't think it was so much that the roof was closed that hurt Nadal as it was the action of closing the roof. Nadal had just won the 4th set and was finally rolling in the match. But the long time it took to close the roof cooled Nadal's momentum and gave Rosol a chance to regroup.

Why the negativity people?.

Rafa didn't look "very vulnerable". He looked good, and great sometimes. I am actually very optimistic after how he played yesterday.

Plus, you predict 5 sets and give Rafa no chance?. Do you know Rafa's record on 5 set matches?.

Rosol was just lucky the Wimbledon officials completely unexplainably decided to stop the match when Rafa had all the momentum. Just one of the things that went on Rosol's favour that time for him to manage that win.

So , it wasnt the injury , but the officials ?

If Rafa loses tomorrow then we will have to stop using that phrase

Can you read?.

Here, I will help you:

Rosol was just lucky the Wimbledon officials completely unexplainably decided to stop the match when Rafa had all the momentum. Just one of the things that went on Rosol's favour that time for him to manage that win.

Now, it could only have been worse for Rafa to have kept on playing with his knee in the state it was, but that doesn't change how extremely dubious the decision to stop the match was.

But Rafa talked only about the injury recently ?

Do tell us Crisstti- what were the the other things that "went on Rosol's favour that day"?

"Rafa struggled in every practice, he couldn't go down on his knees, which is important on grass, and his mentality was not good enough for that reason."

- Toni said this week.

Yes, but that doesn't mean it's the first time they've talked about it. I don't know about you, but I noticed he was injured when he began to skip tournament after tournament after Wimbledon. He had a partial tear on his knee iirc, and that was known already in 2012.

Uh, the roof closing and Rafa having a serious injury which wouldn't let him play again for 7 months.

Well the roof closing is the same for both players, just like if there's blustery conditions that day. And if Nadal really was so badly injured, the match would never have gone to 5 sets in the first place.

Something that is the same for both players can still be clearly favourable to one of them, and this was, we all know it.

He was injecting his knee in order to play. If he wasn't so badly injured, he wouldn't have missed 8 months from the tour.

Is this the kind of issue that makes you stop looking like a nice guy and makes you seem like a hater instead?.

It helped Rosol more in that Nadal had just won the 4th set with consecutive breaks at that. The roof closing basically cooled Nadal's momentum. As for the state of Nadals knee injury, it was "bad" enough that it caused him to miss 7 months of competition, including two grand slams and the Olympic games where he was slated to carry the flag. Would Nadal just arbitrarily miss such important events if his knee wasn't badly injured?

You need to understand that just because a person questions Nadal's particular injury during that W tournament does not mean he is a hater. Plus,"hater" is such an overused annoying word.

I like Nadal but I don't believe one single solitary word about that Wimbledon "injury." It makes no sense logically and deep down somewhere you must know this because otherwise you would not try and defend it so much.

If you step onto the court, you're declaring yourself fit. If Nadal was so badly injured that day then he should never have played in the first place. Instead he decided to play and got his @rse handed to him. I'm sorry, but I ain't buying what you're selling babe.

But it was not bad enough for him to miss the FO a week before and run around like a rabbit on speed, right? ;)

Anyone who questions Nadal's injury is a hater.

Give Rosol his credit. He went up 2 sets to 1 while the roof was open and was giving Nadal a heck of a tussle on grass. As a matter of fact, Rosol was in a position to serve out the second set against Nadal in Doha.
If Nadal had won that match at Wimbledon, he would never have brought up the knee injury. He would've just played the next match and the next match. It's always an injury claim after a hearbreaking loss. Federer did the same to Berdych at Wimbledon 2010.

The only thing that makes no sense at all is saying he wasn't injured. But I've given up on you making sense about this kind of thing.

So you think Fed was lying about his bad back?. Interesting.

That a win is still a win if the opponent is injured, doesn't mean we have to be completely illogical and think players only play when completely fit. It's a fact that isn't so.

But it was not bad enough for him to miss the FO a week before and run around like a rabbit on speed, right? ;)

You think injuries don't get worse, and then better?. They just appear from one second to the next in the worse state?.
