"I am sad, could not compete, had breathing problem, I got dizzy, it's painful, I'm suffering"

Speaking later in his press conference, Nadal reflected on his disappointment at not quite achieving his mission of remaining unbeaten until the clay-court season.

"Honestly, I wanted to make it perfect before [the] clay," Nadal admitted. "[It would] have been very, very, very beautiful.

"Honestly, I am sad because of the way I was not able to compete. It is tough to have these feelings, every day, but especially in the final is very, very ugly. But, yeah, in sport it is not about talking of the past. We need to talk about today, and today is a difficult day for me.

"I had problems breathing. I don't know if it is something on the rib, I don't know yet. When I'm breathing, when I'm moving, it's like a needle all the time inside here. I get dizzy a little bit because it's painful. It's a kind of pain that limits me a lot.

"It is not only about pain, I don't feel very well because it affects my breathing. [I am] more than sad [about the breathing] than for the loss, something that I accepted immediately, and even before the match ended, it's more about that I am suffering a little bit, honestly."

I like how after he said all that, he goes on:

But that's it, no? Is not the moment to talk about that honestly, no? Even if it's obvious that I was not able to do the normal things today... That's it. It's a final. I tried. I lost against a great player.

I think it's not the day to talk about what's going on on me. It's his day. We don't need to hide that in my comments.

Djokovic will be very sad if it turns out he was right all along. And those Nadal comments are very concerning as they mirror comments by a number of sports stars past few months.

In his first El Clásico appearance on 24 October, Agüero came on as a substitute in the 77th minute, scoring his first goal for the club in the last minute of play of a 2–1 home defeat to Real Madrid.

Seven days later, he was taken to hospital with chest discomfort diagnosed as cardiac arrhythmia during an eventual 1–1 home draw against Alavés.

It was reported in November 2021 that he would be out of action for at least three months, but on 15 December 2021 Agüero announced his retirement from football on the advice of doctors, and thanked the teams he had played for.

Another excuse lol
There's no way he could have beaten Taylor Fritz. Taylor played fearless tennis and is easily a better player than Nadal.

As for suffering, some of us here like OS at TTW have suffered much more since January. So, please! Don't talk of your pain to us.

Fritz only won the 2nd Set because of Nadal's basic error at the end of tiebreaker....
And Nadal would be the clear favorite in a 3rd Set.

Fed devotee, why are you cheating the readers?

it shall be injury due to the windy semi. dont think it is a serious one but it would be great that he knows rest is important at this stage of his career.

Sounds like a tear of the serratus muscle or intercostal muscle as these can then cause pain when taking deep breaths as happens after long points. It makes it tough to serve well also.

I'm very concerned this is why. Young and healthy people are getting myocarditis at crazy rates and the jab isn't safe despite what the covidians say.. I can't believe these athletes who are at virtually no risk from covid had to take the jab. I don't like Djokovic the tennis player but I admire the man greatly for having enough sense not to just get in line.
Exactly. I was stepping over kids on the street today who had obviously keeled over due to myocarditis. Band-Aids still on their arms from the shot, trying to comfort one another. High schools apparently have no students left in them. Don't believe it when you think you see young people walking into schools - they are paid actors. Get the real facts from people on the internet - it's the only way to learn the truth.

Nadal is injured every single day of his life. It's incredible he manages to get out of bed without breaking something but then again we would only know about that if he's in danger of losing a tennis match. Thankfully when he's winning matches he's 100% healthy with no issue so that's something we should all strive for! Just win and you will be healthy forever, losing is obviously the result of an injury.

Listen, Rafa is a great player, I’m sure SOME of these times he is legit injured. The problem is that he’s now been “injured” seemingly with every loss he’s suffered. At this point he’s tanked his credibility such that even when he is probably legit injured (as here) I can’t give him the benefit of the doubt. All the top players have annoying things they do, this is just one of those things Rafa does…

Bruh's I get it, but he's not going to serve 105 on first serve for no reason lol, he was clearly hampered, it's OKAY to admit it.

Don't buy it. Nadal is a liar and a fake and i truly hope he is actually injured and doesn't come back to the tour but I'm positive he will be completely fine and ready for the clay season.

The hate is strong in you. I always see you in Nadal threads spewing venom. Don't let someone you don't know stay rent free in your head for your own sake.

Enough with this nonsense, every player has their physical issues, but Nadal's fans like to believe it's only Nadal that has to suffer physical problems in this universe.
If Taylor would have lost today (he is injured also), would any credit be taken away from Nadal's win, or nearly any attention be brought to his injury ? No. The asterisks are all reserved for Nadal's convenience, because he's the only poor man who has to go through injuries & illnesses right, that too the most painful ones in the universe every time ?
