I (am supposed to) hate Zverev due to this forum... why?

I understand that I should hate Zverev. I do as well. But I know nothing of him to even hate him. I have barely seen him and don't even care about him. Sometimes I forget his first name even.... but the collective feeling of the board/peer pressure has rubbed off on me and I hate him for no reason other than I know I am supposed to hate him to be a good citizen and member of this forum. This is how genocides happen, racism or lynching and people standby no?

So... why should I hate Zverev? What is there to actually hate about him?

I am also told that I must like Shapavolov. I do even though I know nothing of him apart from watching one match and 5 mins of interview footage but I realise speaking bad of him will affect my standing on this forum if I say so. I will conform to societys standards expected of me. I like him

Update: My employer has found out that I visited Zverev's facebook page. They have deduced I may like Zverev as a result. I have been fired from work and I am now unemployable. My wife and kids have been taken for questioning incase they also share their father/husbands views of possibly liking Zverev. I begged them to let my kids go at least. They can't be punished for their fathers thought crime. I tried to protest my innocene, I dont really like Zverev I was just curious what his facebook page was like. After 23 hours of consecutive beatings I signed a forced confession stating that I liked Zverev. My fate will be decided by public trial tomorrow

He isn’t a gentleman and an overall nice guy like the great Federer. Federer is not only the blueprint as a tennis player but also for all mankind.

He’s arrogant, rude, condescending, constantly whines about everything, feels entitled to win everything and anything, and has the most punchable face you’ll ever see.

After he split with Juan Carlos Ferrero and his coaching staff, Juan actually came out and exposed Zverev’s **** poor attitude and demeanor. Constantly late to practice, showed little respect to Juan, and was also rude to his team.

One word describes him: ********.

Zverev hasn't looked back since dumping Ferrero.

This is probably the most used argument by those who hate Zverev in this forum, and it's based on inaccurate information. JCF didn't say half of the thing you just listed there. His literal words were:
What I asked from the first day is respect for the team. Among other things, I asked him to be a little more punctual. I told him that it wasn't okay that day after day he'd arrive 20 or 30 minutes late for training. I told him that a little more discipline would do him good to improve tennis-wise. - Ferrero

The first sentence where he mentions respect is implied in the fact that one shows respect by arriving early at commitments, as said immediately after it. It doesn't mean Zverev acted disrespectfully on other occasions (this is better understood in Spanish, the original language in which this statement was said). JCF was actually the one who, according to Zverev, disrespected and was rude to the whole team:
We had a fight after the Australian Open, which was okay, that concerns both of us. We argue, something I also do with my father. But there was a time when he was very disrespectful to the whole team and I had to end the relationship. -Zverev

I get you dislike Zverev, and it's okay, but the misuse of information isn't something you should use to validate your arguments against him.

The massive increase in Zverev hate correlates with the amount of success he has had in recent times, and the amount of on screen time he has had which shows his little antics more frequently. Whether you are put off or not....Just wait until he's reaching the latter stages of majors lol...

I think the hate really came to the fore when the slide came post Canada last year. It was a real case of "pride cometh before the fall" and there were plenty wanting to stick the boot in when the wheels fell off. It's all a bit disproportionate, he's a bit conceited and up himself, but hardly the first tennis prodigy to present that way. The 6 months in purgatory from September to March seems to have been beneficial, with a brief difficult period possibly toughening him up and providing a platform for future success.

I also think there'll be plenty of bandwagon jumpers if he wins a slam, or at least competes "manfully" in an epic match. In the past he's wilted under fire.

He's got the tools. He's young. It'll happen.

Tough time to crack into the majors just yet for him.

2 weeks of five setters....... hopefully he's getting more fit.

If he's cocky, so be it. I loved McEnroe too.

I've been pulling for the kid since i first heard of him a few years ago (or whenever it was...).

Seems like a special talent, just needs to "figure it out".

Now is probably the time for him. He's had a period of consolidation and is back on the upswing. The game's thin at the top and while he's young he's also experienced.

After 23 hours of consecutive beatings I signed a forced confession stating that I liked Zverev. My fate will be decided by public trial tomorrow. I was given a lawyer to defend me. Initially I was pleased but have since learned that the lawyer provided to me is actually a cat called felix.

How about use your own brain and support who you enjoy watching play.

Don't particularly like his game but can't understand why he is hated to such extent. Game's constantly improving and I have no doubts he'll be the next World No. 1 after Fedal.

Oh plz from his bland game and his fist pumps. His punchable face. The day he wins a slam will be a dark cloud in tennis. He's definitely a lot different than another behemoth name delpo who's more likeable. I haven't hated a player like this since Andy Roddick although I felt bad for Andy at times.

Zverev will surely win slams in the future, so you better get used to him. I'm not much of a fan of his game but I really don't get the hate for him. He's making it to the business end of big tournaments week after week on every surface. As for his arrogance, it isn't so bad IMO. He believes(unlike most of these other saps) which is what he is supposed to do.

Also I find fascinating that some ND fans hate/dislike Zverev because of his arrogance - wow.

On the list of reasons is b/c he does this:

before every first serve. He isn't about take a dip in the pool or a sudden 15 degree change in higher temps

I might root against Zverev because he gives off the Lendl/Murray vibe of "uninteresting but effective", and it is satisfying to see him get shown up by another young gun, but I can't bring myself to hate him the way TTW does. Or the way I dislike Kyrgios's personality.
Wait....I didn't say that! I hate him totally and completely! Please spare my wife and kids!

His game is honestly boring. I mean his brat attitude exacerbates people's dislike for him, but if he had an exciting game with the same results he has had now, there would be nary a peep.

Nole is not any more arrogant than Federer. (Exactly. Neither are). He has a little bit of an alpha male personality, like he knows deep down that he really is a legend, but even then he's still the biggest class act on tour. He's not Nadal, but he's in no way comparable to Zverev, who definitely has an air about him.

Bratty at the Hopman Cup. It wasn't terrible, but I thought maybe he could save it since he was playing the GOAT in an exhibition. Especially since Fed is trying to help him. Federer I guess overlooked it and keeps helping him anyway. He was an emotional player too when he was young.

Roger baked him. Made him look like an amateur

I know this is supposed to be a light-hearted joak but it seems "peer pressure" and some "forum politics" here and there on this board are real. I know bullying, not publicly, is real as well.

Personally I couldn't care less about being politically correct, least of all on an Internet forum. ;)

Unless it's a player I absolutely can't be bothered, Medvedev for example, all the player bashing on here only makes me want to get to know/appreciate the players more. A silver lining - sort of - to me. ;)

Nobody really comes up with a reason to hate him; anything "bad" he does has been done by many other players also. It's just a meme to hate Zverev.

I put my life on the line by supporting him on these forums! Can't wait till he wins a major I'm hon a rub it in :D

You better, err, slay. :D
