I (am supposed to) hate Zverev due to this forum... why?

It's not personal. I don't like any arrogant d-bags
Arrogance is fine when it’s backed up, if Zverev yells “this is my fckin court” after winning in the RG semis and then goes onto win RG by beating Rafa in the final then I’ll rate him.

Chances of that happening though? 0%<. So I pretty much wasted my time building up a hypothetical that will never happen.:D

The Hitler youth haircut seems in bad taste for an Austrian somehow. Why that look has taken off amongst the young folk I have no idea.

I didnt even know Thiem was Austrian and now you mention it i dont even know what country Zverev is from yet I am supposed to hate these guys who I dont even know anything about and don't even watch thier matches or their interviews

Zverev is from Germany, but his parents are Russian.

I get the impression that he yelled "this is my fu*king court" to his team/couch, not to the other player?.
It doesn't make it any less repelling. Who the F does he think he is? Imagine if Nadal did that in Barcelona or Fed in Basel? So arrogant no matter how good you are.

Besides it's freaking Munich, who even plays there? Baghdatis and Kohlschreiber?

And those guys literally have courts named after them.

I'll withhold judgement on Z for a few years. I remember watching Mac get started - he was such a disgusting brat - MUCH worse than Z - it was intolerable, no matter how well he played. Then there were other nightmares, like Connors. Remember Muhammad Ali when he was getting started? Holy smokes.

And it's a virtual certainty that a young kid like this, barely old enough to shave, may have difficulty adjusting to relatively sudden worldwide fame and tens of millions of dollars. I mean, it's not like he stepped onto the city park court next door to hit some balls. These are not "celebrity" personalities to begin with; they didn't grow up seeking the limelight. They're just ordinary guys like you and me, who suddenly became international rock stars just because they're good tennis players.

So.... yeah, he's annoying, but I find a lot of 21 year olds annoying. Let's see where he goes from here.

If only Zverev was as mature and intelligent as many of the 21 year old haters who frequent these forums.

We are lucky to have so many 21 year old posting on these forums who have a savant like ability to comment on the relative strength of the game from 2004 when they were only 7 years old.

It’s amazing that there are so many of these savant tennis fans from gen 1998-2001. Definitely a strong era in savants. Quite remarkable really!

You sound like you have lived. How was Muhammed Ali perceived during his day? Was he really popular even at the time and did he have haters? Obviously he is a legend now but was that after? Surely he must have had a lot of haters due to his persona. Then of course he would have had haters simply due to his race in such a disgracefully racist country but those racists aside didn't the media diss his cockiness or a lot of people not hate him?

You’re either lying or you started following tennis yesterday. How is it possible to not know the nationality of arguably the two biggest rising stars of the moment, both top 10 players? You see it next to their name when they’re playing and the incident of Zverev yelling “this is my fn court” in Munich is talked about all the time.

I feel so indifferent about these chaps that these details are easily forgotten.... or were they ever even retained in the first place so they could even be forgotten? Although this could be changing. I am contemplating rooting for zverev now.
