i destroyed my bumper! help!

was playing yesterday on en tout cas surface, and i scraped my racquet on the ground and when i looked at it again, a bit of the bumper had bent back, and some of the gravel crushed brick stuff was sitting underneath the bumper. I was crying on the inside. I decided to ignore it and keep playing as there was nothing i could do....then...it happened again! only on the other side this time.

i wasnt too happy as the racquet was my treasure! okai, so my racquet is the wilson ncode nsix-one tour 90 and i was wandering if:
1). would the peeling bumper affect my racquet? i dont feel any difference.
2). does tw sell replacement bumpers? i tried looking for them but i only found grommets...or are they the same?

p.s. sorry i cant post a pic up yet as i dont have my camera with me..but wen i get it back i will.

Not to worry, you can purchase replacement bumper guard/grommet set. You can replace the set when you restring.

Hi Munk3y,

You are correct in saying that the NCode NSix-One Tour 90 Grommets that TW sells include the Bumper as well.

The exact link is...
http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/orderproduct.html?PCODE=N61TMG

As far as if you want to play with the Bumper peeled back, that would be up to you. And though that might change the weight some, if you do not notice it, possibly it could work.

If it was me however, I'd order a couple of the Bumper and Grommet sets, that way you can replace one now, as well as have an extra should the need arise.

Hope that helps,
John

ohh thanks so much for all your replies. I am more relaxed now, was a bit worried just before. :D im going to order 2 now.

oh and er...another question :)
are the bumpers glued on? or are they just placed on....im guessing just placed on because of how easy it came off

If yo us tring your own frame, be sure to make sure the gromet holes are all set before you tension, or there can be some unpleasantries with bent plastic and sharp metal. Be sur eto use an awl if necceasary to push the grommets into place before you tension them. If your stringer does this for you, make sure he has done it before, and understands what to do. I had a frmae strung by a guy who didnt understand this, and my gromemt set ended up mangled and unusable. Coincidently, i string my own frames now . . .
