Wow, Nadal got absolutely destroyed here. I know Fabio GOAT was playing some epic tennis at MC, but wtf?

The real question is, is Nadal overrated on clay?

Nadal played garbage, Fabio played okay at first.

Then Nadal kept playing like garbage and Fabio grooves off it and started GOATing.
Fabio v Fed is gonna be rivalry on clay this season

Nadal's gears were all broken today. And Fabio was dialled in, especially mentally (apart from the game at 5-0 40-0)

I only caught the last few games; is there something wrong with Rafa’s wrist, he didn’t seem to be accelerating through the forehand like normal, appeared to be holding back?

I noticed that too but I thought it was just be me. The wrist snapback on contact was missing. Also, they showed ball RPM on strokes and Fabio was hitting with more avg spin by a few hundred than Rafa. That never happens. Could be that Rafa was hitting flatter on purpose. But regardless, Rafa's forehand was very clearly missing the zing.

Fog just outplayed him. He did everything right, except that he chocked a bit when he had 3 match points. He was moving better, he was aggressive, nice drop shots, great winners. I'm sure you'll be able to watch some highlights on YouTube. And no, Rafa is not injured btw.

With wind as it was it required different set of skills than usual. Any rough conditions favor weaker player and for Nadal timing of ball contact is crucial which did not help him.

Actually Nadal said because Mallorca is an island, he is more used to the wind than some others. He might change his tune now though seeing as he said this before the Pella match. :O

Wasn't the wind. There was no pop, except sporadically, in Nadal's shots. There was no pop generally; he looked strangely subdued and flat, grunts notwithstanding. I guess the turnaround on back to back playing days is getting harder and harder now. Which means he should still be ok for French Open.

Fognini better win the MC final now, it'll be an ATP disaster if Layopomtiddleypom won it.

The wind was really bad during the Lajovic Medvedev match. Nadal usually plays great when it's windy. He was simply outplayed today. No ifs or buts. Fabio was just fabulous today (y).

Saw the highlights. The Fog took a page from Djokovics book on how to beat Nadal. Took ball on the rise. Taking time away from Nadals forehand. Turning Nadals forehand into a weakness.

Bow down to the Fog. The coolest man in tennis.

Just checked the scores and I’m looking for my eyeballs, they left the eye sockets involuntarily from shock!

Figuratives aside, crazy! The last thing I was expecting was Fog to bear Rafa in MC!

Rafa was poor, he was making lot of errors, the serve was very weak, struggled continuously with the wind. Mindwhile Fabio was excellent on both wings, great acceleration, really an all around impressive performance from him. Makes me sad that this Fabio doens't show up more often, because he is something to see.
