I don't understand this about Shapovalov

The first thing Shapo needs to do is get a haircut like Monfils.
The second thing he needs to do is make sure his cap is facing the right way.
The third thing he needs to do is stop bouncing the ball between his legs when serving.
The fourth thing he needs to do is get a brain transplant.

He needs to do this first, otherwise there's no chance of doing the other three.

He also picked Kyrgios.
Rod: "Ability-wise, Nick could be the best tennis player in the world, only he is the one that gets in his way. He plays some magnificent tennis but then something gets in the way and he finds himself being challenged by other things, whether behavior or whatever seems to come up."

I would say that “could be the best tennis player in the world” is pretty strong praise of his ability. Denis is alike in that he is not consistent. He has talent for sure but can’t always channel it well and can spray errors all over the court. Neither one is tapping into their potential.

For most of Shapo's career since he was 17 he has been the highest ranked player for his age, that is no player higher ranked than him is younger than him. He lost that for a few months last year to Felix but got it back in the fall. SO long as that is true it's hard to make the argument that he isn't progressing. The youngest player of the top 15 players in the world is in itself a big statistic. Saying he needs a head transplant seems over the top to me. I see the inconsistency too and the what I think is a mental fragility but then when we least expect it he goes on a run too. He drove Canada to the Davis Cup final and was competitive with Nadal in that final. That was a fine game and close second set tie break. A little while later he pushed Djokovic to a third set tie break at the ATP Cup where he was even more of a one man team. Don't write off Shapo yet.

How extraordinarily petty.
