What you wrote makes Djokovic look even worse because outside of RG according to how some people act he should be at least 7-1 too but he’s only 5-3. It just shows that even without RG it’s close enough and that Djokovic isn’t as great as believed.
5-1, when we exclude matches before 2011, when it was not yet Serbinator in full force.

I'm really baffled by how aggressive people are talking on this thread... what is the fcking point???? The op said he/she was sad for Nadal losing this match. A match that at times resembled more a war than a sporting event (slight exaggeration), where both players played incredibly good, arguably at their best, for which I'm thankful, since this is my all time favorite match. Unfortunately it didn't end well for one of my all time favorite players.

Even if you don't feel sorry for Rafa, like op (and myself) do, I guess you'll be happy for Djokovic. Where is the ****ing problem people? I've read something about being one dimensional, if you take clay out if this and that and blah blah blah. There are 3 player in the open era that made 5+ finals in every slam, and those are Federer, Djokovic and Nadal. None of them are one dimensional. Also, even if one is better than the other in a given surface, matches like this show that all of them are great contenders to each other. And I'm not pointing out at Djokovic fans on this thread. Some Nadal fans have also said stupid things. More or less the same stupid things but turned around.

Can we just cut the crap and enjoy the video the op posted?

Nadal losing was fine in fact he could have lost in a tight 4 setter he was clutch to get to 5.

i feel like this 2012 AO nadal is second highest level he played in AO
definally , first is 2009 AO nadal
anyway this version of rafa is something special for me
serve was insane at whole open and
his forehand was very strong

that down the line cross court backhand ...
i really feel bad for rafa lost 2012 AO final
two slam in 2012 for nadal and
probably no slam in 2012 for novak djokovic

rafa played so well ...
Nadal didn't deserve to win that match.....given that he used the wrong tactic for 6 hours.
They only play long rallies because Nadal goes crosscourt too much.
Nadal can end the rally with the forehand-down-the-line.....just like 2010 and 2013 US Opens.....but on hardcourt Nadal has often lacked the confidence to do it on big points.
On clay Nadal goes down-the-line on big points (but not in 2015, because he had no confidence).
Uncle Toni is to blame for the cross-court pattern of play, because he constantly forced young Nadal to play that way because it hurt Federer....
That regular cross-court play is still largely in Nadal's muscle memory, and Moya is trying to minimize it.
Still, 20 slams and headed for 25.

That 30-15 backhand miss was the worst and most consequential miss of Rafa's career. At least with Nadal's break points 5th set 2018 W SF, Djokovic earned those points. 2012 miss was a choke because he had such a good look that it threw him off.
That was lucky miss for Rafa... He doesn't need 40:15 meme... ;)

That's some impressive mental gymnastics there, bud. Gold medals await in Tokyo for performances like that!

Of course in reality, Djokovic leads both Fed and Nadal in H2H, dominates Fed in Slam H2H, and leads Nadal in the Slam H2H off clay. Facts can be tough for your feelings sometimes.

Don't forget Djokovic has beaten both at EVERY slam.

Funnily enough that loss did not bother me much, perhaps the least frustrating. Reason is Djokovic was the better player and should have closed it out in 4 sets. USO 2011 annoyed me more.

Imagine if someone feels bad about someone else in sport over something that has happened 9 years ago! Go, find a girlfriend. Have a meaning in life or something.
Nadal Federer and Djokovic all say even the most devastating defeats take about 2 or maybe 3 days to get over then life moves on.
58 slams they have.
I think there is a lesson in there somewhere

If you are a multimillionaire sports star life is pretty good? :-D
Yeah for some reason i struggle to picture any of the trio sat glum faced thinking about a match they lost!!. I tend to picture them in their down time wondering what plane or yacht or island to buy

You wont get the satisfaction of seeing me retreat to the fence to return your serve. No sir. Ill still be fixed on that baseline not backing down bud even 6-0 5-0 down
Then you won't get the satisfaction of seeing me pretend to set up for a second shot, no sir. I'll be on that baseline not moving even 6-0 5-0 40-0 up

I feel bad for USO that he only has 18 months on the forum. No club 20 :(

18 months is more than I ever thought possible. That's great. :giggle:

I've been here for 6 months so far and wrote 2,200 posts... So I still have around 4,400 upcoming posts for you and everyone to enjoy. :giggle:

4,400 :giggle:

34 years old Nadal won it without dropping a set, maybe 35 years old Nadal drops a set, but the gulf is too big still
Every time when Nadal won RG without dropping a set he was vulnerable in the next year, even though he still won 2 out of 3 times. And back then he wasn't 35, and there were no roof and no night sessions.
