Well,

I don`t know what happen to me but now after the last session and todays practice session I am feeling sick, like some sort of nausea, like I will throw up. I cant stand it - this is worse than every pain if you ask me. I have just a little pain in the head but that is not bothering me - what bothers me is this ****in sick feel - like when you drink 1L of alcohol and you are about to throw up.

You know what I mean? What is this - now it lasts 2 hours. I wanted to sleep but I cant - now I am writing this and really dont feel well.

Maybe because I was inactive for 2 years?

Last time this did happen to me was 1 week again after my last hittint session. I felt bad - sick, like im gonna throw up for 3 hours! and now it happened again.

And I was taking breaks @ the session, drinking a lot of water and everything. I dont like this, its more bearable when my arm hurts or back or knee or whatever.

It only hurts because your not throwing up. Your body is eating itself bascially by keeping it down. Your trying too hard and put emphasis on result, creating the stress.

Be very careful, occasional pain in the head is lot worse than constant pain in the head when your pushing yourself. Always listen to the body could be on verge of stroke.

Throwing up isnt always bad, purge yourself of the stuff your lower gi doesnt want.

Fight it all you want, but its best to just get it over with. Wash mouth and snort water to clean your pipes or you could get ulcers, they call it acid for reason

Was it outside? If so, maybe you have UV poisoning. If indoors, maybe you have the flu.

My friend had had pain in the upper back after playing floorball for about a year or so. He allways thought of having a condition in his spine, got to massage and physio to solve it. And felt relieved after the appointments.

It was about a year ago, when he got the same, yet even a touch worse. It just didn’t go away. After 2hrs of agony and pain in his back and around his trunk, he had to go to triage. And found out, he’d been having minor heart attacks all those times and again.

I’d suggest you go and take a thorow inspection on your health.

amen, bro! So many threads in this forum where people don't get a diagnosis done properly and think a little massage and switching to natural gut solves all problems. Lots of stories in ERs of people who think they have a toothache, careful history reveals the "toothache" only occurs on exertion, and it's discovered to be cardiac pain (which can radiate not only down the left arm but also to the jaw). Get your symptom diagnosed!!

The friend, I told about had two blocked coronary arteries and had them operated and stents installed inside the vessels.

With angina pectoris the symptoms varies a lot and it is common to have a variaty of aches, which are not actually commonly understood to be in relation with a heart condition.

Do you work out regularly? Like three or four times a week? Or do you just go out and workout maybe once every couple of weeks? Are you careful about timing of food before working out?

There are anti-nausea drugs like Zofran and there are steroids that you can take if it's a problem but there's usually a known cause of the problem and you'd take them if you were having days of nausea. I've had this problem as well and have basically been taking more ginger (ginger snaps, crystallized ginger, ginger root, ginger ale, ginger apple juice). I've been thinking of trying the drugs but that would be a last resort.

Absolutely if symptoms continue get checked out by the doctor. Sounds like some blood work may be in order.

I always keep some ginger chews by Trader Joe's around in the office and home for people, not sure why ginger seems to suppress nausea. I prefer drinking real ginger ale, Bruce Cost brand. Always got a few in the fridge.
Wife swore by pineapple juice to calm her nausea during pregnancy. Couldn't hurt to try that. Also peppermint...candies or tea.

Your "pain in the head" comment could possibly mean there may be an associated restriction of the soft tissue in the sub occipital region which is quite commonly "jammed" in a lot of folks. Another nausea hot spot is in the diaphragm/solar plexus region.

Some very very gentle myofascial release/craniosacral techniques in these areas always seem to help my patients with nausea/queasiness.

Good luck.

.....and if that doesn't work, perhaps an implanted electrode in the area postrema, the vomiting center in the medulla part of the brainstem

I'm stopping by Whole Foods to see if they have the Bruce Cost brand. WF is listed as one of their distributors.

I've heard of peppermint tea + ginger for nausea. I haven't tried it myself. I generally don't run into peppermint tea.

I've seen research papers on ginger in reducing nausea so there's medical evidence that it works. The drugs will knock it out - I've taken some that kill it for two to three days. Of course you feel like crap after the drugs wear off.

Should have it there in mulitple flavors....that's where I get mine.

They didn't have it but they had a whole bunch of other specialty Ginger Ales (and root beers and other interesting drinks). I got a bottle of Fever-Tree Premium Ginger Ale.

I feel you. Sometimes I feel like throwing up when I play, sometimes my partners actually throw up during my game. Been there, done that.

Sick from stress? Or sick from the play? Are you on any medication? What is your diet? How much Alcohol do you drink in a week? Are you outside in the heat playing? How long are you playing? Do you workout as well? Run, lift weights? What sort of shape are you in: body fat, BPM, Metabolic rate, etc...Probably want to look at all of those factors and possibly see a nutritionist and PT to make sure your body is balanced right for the activity

how intense are you practicing?
i did footwork drills yesterday, and felt similarly after just 30 minutes... but it was the equivalent of running springs and/or tabata drills
afterwards, felt light headed, like i was gonna vomit.... yeah a good workout :p

you are right, thanks.

:O I was visiting a physioterapevt and she said that I should be realy careful. I could get an heart attack - and also die. Because my heart is not used to intense sport activity. I should start slowly as I was literally 2 years inactive and i was NOT doing any sports. So I can be lucky I didnt have a heart attack because these are the symptoms she said. Im so stupid. At least now I know I should take it easy.
Im now working out 4 times a week to get some condition. And I will practice tennis really slowly. Imagine a 110kg guys with no condition behind the baseline trying to catch a dropshot. :D this gets your heart to 2x bpm instantly

I get terrible stomach cramps and liquid poop if I drink random water when playing. At one of the local clubs they have filtered water and that always makes me sick, but doesn't make anyone else sick. Not sure why my stomach is like that but it is. So I make sure I bring known good water and that solves it for me. Doesn't just mean bottled water. Arrowhead does the same to me, as well as any water that get heat cycled in a plastic bottle. So I stick to the RO water from my house and higher end water like Smart.

today i was again hitting with my partners and I feel good now - i had no problems after the session. I skipped tennis for two weeks and was working out 14 days - mostly joga - and today i wasnt hitting like crazy but step by step. My knee is also better. I lost a little weight.

who knows - maybe the two bananas i ate saved me...

When I started playing tennis again, I had issues with my stomach. Similar to many other potentially stressful physical activities. My body just can't handle working hard and trying to process food. This started with cycling. For long, hard rides, I needed to take in calories, but I couldn't eat real food. So I used things like energy bars, gels, and now "gummies". My body is able to absorb these readily whereas even a banana could be a gut bomb.

I've used things like Cliff shot bloks for energy that my body can use when I'm working out hard.

Just back from Whole Foods and bought Ginger Tea Bags, Ginger Tea (cold in a bottle, zero calories), and crystallized ginger. It does help with nausea.

If you are feeling shortness of breath/chest pain a cardiologist can order a BNP blood test (brain (or B-type) natriuretic peptide) A BNP value of less than 100 pg/mL essentially rules out heart failure, whereas values greater than 400 pg/mL indicate a 95% likelihood of heart failure. Values between 100 pg/mL and 400 pg/mL warrant further investigation. A suggested “normal” range for BNP is 0.5-30 pg/mL.

Ther is also another blood test called a troponin test, it measures the levels troponin T or troponin I proteins in the blood. These proteins are released when the heart muscle has been damaged, such as occurs with a heart attack. The more damage there is to the heart, the greater the amount of troponin T and I will be in the blood. For patients who present with acute coronary syndromes, troponin T values greater than or equal to 0.01 ng/mL that are rising make the diagnosis of cardiac injury.

Do you ever feel the nausea, etc. after your other workouts or is it just tennis? Tennis is a brutal sport. You get successive anaerobic bursts constantly for hours. I'd recommend that you work some sort of anaerobic or interval training into your workouts. Running up a hill to exhaustion and walking back down for recovery would be an example.

Solved this problem by drinking a brew on changeovers. Never felt better after the 2nd set........................................till the next day

update: I have no more headaches and illness and nothing. I trained and lost some weight and I can run play @ higher level and nothing dramatic happens. I guess the body is now just used to this scenario. :D
