I hate the new colour of the Aus Open courts!

They've changed the colour scheme of the Aus Open courts. From a bright colourful blue to a drab dull blue. Here are two photos, one from last year's semi and one from this year's Rally for Relief.

Looks pretty much the same to me.
I'm liking this year's color scheme a bit more actually. There's more 'separation' between the actual court from the surrounding lighter blue.

It's fine. I like that there's a greater difference in color of court and outside space, looks more clear and aesthetically pleasing. When everything is of the same color it really diminishes the viewing experience.

People seem to have tendency to praise the past and criticize the present. Game style, racquets, attire, and now color of the court..
I think it's about groups of people. Groups are changed and influenced by changes in the game (or whatever the thing is the group of people are following). Generally, what happens over time, is new people who like the changes join, people who do not like them leave. So the group of people who follow tennis today have different tastes and preferences than say 30 years ago.

I think it's because of this, that the group of people in the present are always complaining that things were better in the recent past.

I believe it's not that individuals are changing their preferences, but the collective group is always changing.

Agreed. And it's not even close. How they thought the iconic style of the previous logo was worse than the generic way they write it now is beyond me.

Different =/= better.
No contest.

A lot of logos and graphic designs now seem to be trending towards incredibly plain looks and simple block caps lettering.
It’s probably on the back of some research that there is an optimal style that reaches more customers or something, and the marketing departments will be terrified of their brand being viewed as dated or old school.

I think it’s very important how the weather was on the day the photo was made. Especially the AO courts tend to look different in terms of colour if it’s brighter or not. The same court in the same year can look as if it was repainted in another Picture.
These are all night matches but you're right. Perhaps roof was fully open, fully closed, or half-open and the shadows and floodlights, etc might've made a difference in how the court looked on the day.

I dunno, personally I like the new style better, but that's probably just me.

Especially the previous logo. It was very tennis logo, look like Stefan Edberg serving.
