See a doc and get checked for the standard type of metabolic issues that show up about this time of life.

Also learn more about your family medical history and find out if parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or siblings have a history of mid-life metabolic issues.

Hypothyroidism is what we have in our family. It also seems to be very common nowadays, here in Finland. So I take a pill every morning, since the age ~35. Anyway, get yourself checked, it could be a number of different things.

Have you ever been told you snore with an absence of breathing while you sleep? I know you say you are skinny but even thin people can have (OSA) Obstructive sleep apnea. If you suspect this then a sleep study must be done to see if you do indeed stop breathing while you sleep. http://www.alaskasleep.com/blog/signs-you-might-have-sleep-apnea Check this site to see if you have these symptoms.

Many people have undiagnosed sleep apnea and even though they get enough sleep it is the quality of sleep that is lacking. Episodes of no breathing while sleeping can last up to 5-20 seconds several times a night for some people.

Do you like your job? I mean, do you go to work with pleasure every day? I think that's essential for adult happiness. I had a job for a year and a half that really dried me out. I got passive in my personal life, because I was running on empty. Sometimes, we can be blue without knowing. I know I was...

Go see your doctor, and be dead honest about how you feel. It may very well be related to diet.

    All the best :)

This is key. The only way to gain traction on this is to see a doctor. The worst that can happen is that he/she finds nothing clinically wrong with you. It doesn't help much but at least you will know. Just my opinion.

Can't believe no one has said this yet...but eat more. Food is calories, and calories are literally energy. You already said you were skinny. But yeah see a doctor and make sure you're getting all the vitamins you need as well.

diet first then endocrine system. A lot of men have hormone imbalances starting in early 40s. Whether it is thyroid or testosterone ...
    Are you getting enough iron?
Are you getting enough complete B vitamins (full chain)? (Not just B12 that is in an energy drink!)

could make a world of difference.

The vitamin B issue is a good one, lack of B12 can make you tired.
Getting away and having a break from your daily life can invigorate you, connecting with nature ( take a trip to NZ) mediation and swimming can all change how you feel.

Remember not so long ago people use to be called old when they were 40 and then they died by 50.

Sounds like me. I'm 21, skinny and have had CIC my entire life. I should be full of energy but the toxins and extra weight just do me in. B vitamins only worked for like two days.

I know someone did a George joke on lupus, but I had a similar experience as you and was diagnosed with it. Go to your doctor and ask for certain blood tests to rule out any conditions you may have. I always view the results myself and parse the results...ive discovered a ton of information from googling my blood results over what the doctor says. Good luck and hope you start to feel better!

I would strongly suggest to check your vitamin b levels. If possible take the b12 supplement for few days and see how your energy levels are.

I had the same problem and I am seeing significant difference after taking these supplements.

Agree with the B12. I actually started taking a testosterone supplement called Ageless Male. Not embarrassed to say so. It has made a marked improvement in the gym and I really notice it. I didn't have low energy symptoms but I was looking for something to give me more spark in the gym ... man am I opening myself up for jokes. :)
