I just realized Ram's serve is a CC of Sampras serve

Post a high speed video of Ram's serve directly below a video of Sampras's serve - from very similar camera angles for comparisons.

The thread The Tennis Serve - What's True? has an excellent high speed video of Sampras's serve. One camera angle show the shoulder-over-shoulder from an unusual angle. It made me see the serve in a new way. See my posts on Sampras serve.

I might go back to lifting forefoot on my left foot before toss.

Thoughts?
You need to be at least 185 cm tall for this ride. jk

Ram had indicated that he didn’t have formal lessons when he was younger so he studied & film of Sampras’ game, including his serve. Not the worst model to emulate.

I had also studied the Sampras serve back in the mid/late 90s. But found his stagger (racket lag) a bit too extreme for me so I modified the stagger/ rhythm. That suited me for a while. The lefty serve had always been the best part of my game. But I went with a more abbreviated rhythm in the 00s. Still platform. And incorporated a rocking motion a la Federer.

Jeff Salzenstein also studied and emulated the Sampras serve for a while — in his pursuit of a better serve and the fabled “heavy serve”. Jeff found there was something of a speed limit to the heavy (high spin) serve — best results at 120-130 mph, I believe. Jeff eventually went with a simple (easy to copy) version of an abbreviated motion.

2 people is not a "team sport."
Doubs is most definitely a team sport. You need to coordinate, collaborate and communicate with another person. This introduces a level of complexity that singles does not require.

Every shot you make and decision you make has an impact on your partner as well as you. Even your positioning has an effect on your partner. It requires TEAMwork to play doubs effectively.

Suresh is not a team player...that is why they think doubles is not a team sport.

I play pickup doubles every Saturday morning with old men and don't like it.
